Because of "being born from the earth," the rituals of the Tantric tradition, also do not rely on what is born from meditation, and cannot be generated solely through rituals, therefore it is not a nominalist. If it is said in the Hundred Dharmas Sutra, "One should generate the supreme mind of true enlightenment." Even if there is such a statement in the sutras, it is only a vow, not generated through rituals. Otherwise, it would become a Bodhicitta arising from symbols. As it is said in the Differentiation Treatise: "What is called the true Bodhicitta? It arises from the power of meditation, not from rituals. If it arises from rituals, it becomes a Bodhicitta arising from symbols. This is the Bodhicitta obtained through the true nature of reality." It also says: "One should generate the true Bodhicitta, even if there is such a statement in the sutras, it is only a vow, not a ritual." Therefore, the nominalist of the true Bodhicitta is naturally generated from the power of meditation. As it is said in the Samdhinirmocana Sutra: "The true Bodhicitta is beyond the world, free from all elaborations, extremely clear, the realm of true practice, without impurities, unwavering, like the flame of a lamp without wind, it does not move. To accomplish this, one must always respectfully practice the yoga of Shamatha and Vipassana." As Kamalashila quoted in the Stages of Meditation. Fourth, the method of guarding what has been obtained without degenerating. In the "Three Collections of Teachings," the first is a brief explanation: "Explaining the method of guarding against degeneration, are the three moral disciplines of the Bodhisattva, namely, the discipline of abstaining from misconduct, the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings." That is to say, after obtaining the vows, one must guard against degeneration, therefore, when explaining the method, it is divided into two types: how to guard, and what moral disciplines to guard. The first is: In the Compendium of Trainings, it says: "The vows of the Bodhisattva, broadly arise from the Great Vehicle." It also says: "Do not abandon virtuous friends, and always contemplate the sutras." Therefore, in order to understand the basis of the Bodhisattva's training, do not abandon the virtuous friends of the Great Vehicle, respectfully rely on them, and generally with the Great Vehicle's

One should become wise by severing the additions and slanders to all the profound Sutra Pitakas, especially the Sutra Pitaka and the Compendium of Trainings, etc., which extensively explain the Bodhisattva's training, through hearing and thinking. Even if one becomes wise in this way, one should not just stay at the level of knowledge, but should strive to practice according to the Dharma with whatever ability one has. Otherwise, if one does not understand what to accept and reject, then knowledge will become meaningless. As it is said in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": "These things should be practiced with the body. What is accomplished by merely speaking words? By merely reading medical texts, can it benefit the sick?" Therefore, it is necessary to put it into practice. There are two distinctions in how to protect: abandoning the seven causes that hinder and degrade the conduct of oneself and others, and training in the causes that do not degrade and the conditions that increase. First, abandoning the hindering conditions includes: abandoning the three obstacles to wisdom for one's own benefit and the four faults of altruistic behavior. The first is: abandoning the three obstacles of not liking to listen, being distracted when thinking, and being lazy when meditating. The second is: abandoning the four faults of being too lazy in action, applying actions to where others do not trust, lacking compassion in motivation, and doing things in a reversed and confused manner. Second, training in favorable conditions includes: training in the three factors that do not degrade and the nine conditions that increase. The first has three, first, the cause of not degrading in this life is the three recollections: recollecting the benefits of generating Bodhicitta, the faults of degradation, and the difficulty of obtaining it. Second, the cause of not degrading in the next life is the three non-inverted means: performing the seven-branch offering in the three times, praying to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and abandoning the demonic activities that are contrary to the Dharma. Third, the cause of not degrading in both this life and the next is the five cherished things: cherishing sentient beings to be saved more than oneself, cherishing the Dharma that can save more than wealth, cherishing the main Bodhisattva more than the heart, cherishing the helpful spiritual friend more than parents, and cherishing the Buddha to be attained more than enjoyment, one should train in these five cherished things. Second, it includes five recollections and four actions: recollecting the illusion of compounded phenomena, the end of suffering, the benefits of the Dharma, the greatness of the teacher, and the benefits of the Bodhisattva, and observing with the eyes of mindfulness, with the excellent horse of diligence.
