Having finished the previous explanation, the word "question" is added here. When explaining the meaning of precepts, there are the rituals for lay practitioners and novice monks. First, the monk who is inclined towards the abbot of ordination, in order to examine whether it is permissible to ordain, asks if there are any obstacles. If the answer is "pure," in order to gradually introduce the person to be tamed into the Dharma, they should be tamed as a lay practitioner. The sutra says: One should make the words of vowing to take refuge, and the words of vowing to become a lay practitioner. After that, one should state the precepts in the manner of vowing to uphold them. Generally, for lay precepts, it is said in the eighth precept that one can also receive them from a lay practitioner. But here, not only does one abide in the preparatory stage of the abbot of ordination, but according to the Sarvastivada school, it is said that one must receive them from a monk. Lay precepts also have temporary ones, such as keeping only one precept, and complete ones. Here, it is the latter, that is, when becoming a lay practitioner divided by the eight lineages, in order to count the complete lay practitioner who holds the five precepts, that is why it is said so. Second is the novice monk's ordination. It is divided into three parts: preliminary, main, and subsequent. The preliminary is the intermediate ordination ritual, that is, the monk who is inclined towards the abbot himself, after having tamed the person to be tamed as a lay practitioner, in order to abandon the accusation of "not stealing" and to generate a sense of shame, hands them over to the monk who requests ordination from the Sangha. He will also ask if it is completely pure. If it is pure, all the Sangha except the abbot can be gathered, or they can stay in their respective residences. The person to be tamed is led to make the request. If the Sangha allows, then the monk who was previously in the preparatory stage is requested to be the abbot. The abbot is a necessary factor for ordination, because without the abbot, there will be no ordination. If there is no request, one will not become an abbot. After that, in order to generate the thought of being a person of this Dharma, three changes are made. A monk designated by the abbot generally cuts the hair and beard, especially cutting off the topknot. Then take a bath. After the abbot gives the five implements, he himself or the designated person puts them on and examines the signs. Then change the name and generate the thought of ordination.
