The time of karma formation is: For the karma of single action and two requests, it is immediately after that is completed; for the karma of four requests, in the third statement of the essence, action, and agent, the karma is formed immediately after the action is completed. Second, to explain by summarizing the implied permissible and agreeable: In short, there is no permission or prohibition from the beginning. If what is permissible is close and prevents what is not permissible, then do those things; if what is not permissible is close and prevents what is permissible, then always avoid it, it is said. That is to say, all the teachings of permission and prohibition that are not explicitly stated are summarized here. On what basis is it explained? It is that from the very beginning, there are no things that are explicitly permitted or prohibited. If something is said to be permissible and is close to being permissible, and prevents what is not permissible, then do it without hesitation! For example, just as the prohibition and permission are spoken to a novice monk, it is necessary to perform the Uposatha. If something is said to be impermissible and is close to being impermissible, and prevents what is permissible, then always avoid it! For example, it is forbidden to make a cushion out of silk, so something similar to silk or better than silk cannot be used to make a cushion. Likewise, in the Vinaya-ksudraka, it is said: When the Blessed One was about to enter complete Nirvana, he said to the monks: Monks, I have extensively explained the Vinaya to you, but I have not summarized it. However, you should also listen to the summary. Monks, I have not permitted or prohibited anything from the beginning. If something is close to being permissible and prevents what is not permissible, then it should be considered permissible. If something is close to being impermissible and prevents what is permissible, then it should not be done because it is impermissible. It is said like this. Fifth, the physical basis of birth: The basis of birth is heretics, those who have committed the five heinous crimes, those with unpleasant voices, hermaphrodites, the five types of eunuchs, transsexuals with three genders, and those born in the three continents except for emanations, men and women are considered the basis for ordination. That is to say, those with heavy karmic obscurations are heretics or those who have entered heresy, killing parents, disrupting the Sangha, drawing blood from the body of the Tathagata with malicious intent, etc., committing the five heinous crimes, etc., and the ripening of

Those with great obscurations, like unpleasant sounds, are those whose lineage is degenerate. Whoever in a village has no Dharma, is called a *zama*. Like that, *zama*, and birthplaces, half-months, rising from embraces, the jealous, the degenerate, these are the five kinds of *maning* (Sanskrit: paṇḍaka, eunuch), and the simultaneous appearance of two sexual organs, the transformation of sexual organs three times, etc., are degenerate sexual organs. Non-humans transforming into human forms, and non-human practitioners, etc., are degenerate beings. These are obstacles to the arising of vows, so they are not included. Other than that, men and women born in the three continents of east, west, and south are considered to be the basis for both the arising and abiding of individual liberation vows. As stated in the *Treasury of Knowledge*: "*Zama*, *maning*, unpleasant sounds, except for hermaphrodites, for other people, not vows, vows are also the same." And in the *Differentiation Treatise*: "Men and women born in the three continents, for other beings, vows are prohibited." Therefore. Sixth, regarding the method of restoring degeneration, there are two: teaching and explanation. The first is: finally, when degenerated, explaining the method of restoration. This means that after obtaining vows, one must protect them without letting them degenerate, and if they do degenerate, one must purify them through restoration. As stated in the scriptures: "The two are purified and not defiled by afflictions, and the outflows of the two do not increase. What are the two? Not committing transgressions, and restoring according to the Dharma after committing transgressions." Therefore, the method of restoration will be explained. Second, the detailed explanation is divided into two: the causes of abandoning vows, and the actual explanation of restoration. First, there are two: common and uncommon. The first is: transgressions, renunciation of vows, death and rebirth, the simultaneous appearance of two sexual organs and transformation three times, disbelief in cause and effect, cutting off the root, etc., are heavy offenses. This means that the common causes of abandoning individual liberation vows are four: abandoning the vows in the presence of someone who understands, with a firm intention, because of generating conceptual thoughts that contradict the correct acceptance. How to abandon them? The nature of the vows themselves, the root Three Jewels, the cause Three Baskets, the assisting preceptor, the place of learning, the Dharma friends of learning, etc., are like the way of abandoning as stated. Difficult to practice celibacy, etc., shows the cause of abandoning, it is already degenerate, so abandon.
