Allowing others to wash, enjoying fragrant grain oil, thread, and water. Three things: crystal pigment, toothbrush, and wicker comb. Individually or all three together, combing hair, making hairstyles, wearing ornaments of householders, dancing, singing, and playing music. Carrying an umbrella, wearing slippers, and sitting on a low seat. Engaging in improper acts such as wiping and pressing, spinning thread, possessing the robes of nuns, engaging in the business of selling food, cooking raw food at home, begging for food, eating garlic, not associating with unclean people, not carrying water robes, allowing others to wash clothes. Giving or exchanging suitable clothes without respect. Praising others, being stingy with the five things obtained while living in a householder's dwelling. Evicting others from summer residences, accusing each other, expounding false doctrines, showing contempt through gestures. Scolding, splashing water, abandoning quarrels. Not being harmonious, not experiencing instructions. Performing posadha and summer retreat without monks. Not making distinctions for both sanghas. For the sake of the poor, forcibly imposing, joining, extracting, distributing wealth. Not giving to the sangha, abandoning summer residences. Going or not going on pilgrimage, going with doubts. Going to forbidden places, dwelling elsewhere and quarreling. Asking questions out of turn, going alone to other places. Defecating and urinating on green grass and without looking. These are the ones. Fifth, there are eleven expiation with confession, the common one is abandoning the training and returning to lay life, the uncommon ones are ten: milk, yogurt, butter, clarified butter, grain oil, honey, and, molasses, fish, meat, raw meat, and dried meat, etc., eating or drinking from a householder's house without being ill. These are the ones. Sixth, there are one hundred and twelve expiations, the uncommon ones are two: not wearing the lower garment around the waist in a revealing manner, and not going to other houses when aroused with desire. The common ones are one hundred and ten, in the "Ma" section, without saying "doing wiping and pressing" sitting on a cushion, and the two of defecating and urinating on green grass, have already been explained as offenses, so the remaining parts that have not been understood are the same as monks. These are the prohibitive trainings that should be abandoned, which are the methods of protection by recognizing the unfavorable aspects. Second, the trainings to be accomplished are those spoken of in the four Vinayas, and the sound of "Vartu" is called "basis", because it serves as the basis for the three trainings.

The divisions are seventeen bases. As the scriptures say: Ordination and Uposatha are the bases, Censure, distinction, summer retreat, and leather are the bases. Medicine, clothing, hard objects, stretching, Kausambi and the basis of karma. Those with red and yellow, and individuals, Moving and establishing Uposatha, Dwelling and disputes, The Sangha's division are all gathered. So it is said. Among these, Kausambi is the basis of karma differentiation. Those with red and yellow are the basis of restoration. Individuals are the basis of the collection of times and non-times. Moving is the basis of practicing while dwelling in another place. Establishing Uposatha is the basis of complete purification. The others are easy to understand. If these seventeen bases are gathered, there are three: Causing those who have not obtained vows to obtain them, Protecting those who have obtained them from not being lost, And restoring them if they are lost. The first is the basis of ordination, which has already been explained. The third is the seven bases of restoration, which will be explained in the sixth chapter of the root section. Here, the second will be explained: the three bases of completely training in discipline, the five bases of the causes of dwelling in comfort, and the basis of karma that pervades all obtaining, protecting, and restoring. The first is the method of completely training in the discipline to be practiced, as it says: Uposatha, summer retreat, and censure. Among these three, the first, Uposatha, was granted in the Bamboo Grove of Rajagriha at the request of many lay practitioners. The definition is: Among the three bases, whatever method makes the three trainings completely pure, a category gathered by either peacefulness or harmony. There are two divisions: Uposatha of peaceful abiding for the sake of purifying the obscurations accumulated in the past and purifying the higher mind and wisdom; and Uposatha of harmony for the sake of preventing the future continuum, stopping the outflows of this life, and purifying the higher morality. The first is, as the Treasury says: Dwelling in morality, possessing hearing and thought, He diligently applies himself to meditation. Thus, an individual based on completely pure morality. Among these, "unattached noble lineage" indicates one who possesses few desires and contentment, hears the teachings of the Sutra Pitaka, which are the cause of the path, thinks about the meaning of what he has heard, and meditates on the meaning of what he has thought. For this, establish a place of abandonment, accomplish the conditions for abandoning what is contrary and accomplishing what is favorable, and appoint an advisor for abandonment, who with thought
