It is permissible to ask for half a bre and five srang. If you ask for more than that and take it to another place to eat it. Fourth, the transgression of eating abandoned food: A bhikshu who is not in a time of famine or sick, after eating any suitable food, decides in his mind and says in his mouth, "I will not eat today," and then eats the same without making any leftovers. If you eat abandoned food, you should squat in front of the local bhikshu who has not given up his residence and ask for permission. The local bhikshu should take the food and eat two or three mouthfuls. If the food has been abandoned, it is not necessary to eat it. In any case, he should hand it over to the eater and allow him to eat it. Do not get up because you have started eating. The meaning of this is that if you get up before you finish eating and then come back and eat the leftovers, you are getting up after you have started eating. Fifth, the transgression of falsely reporting abandoned food: In Shravasti, it was established for an elderly bhikshu, and other local bhikshus abandoned food. Without making any leftovers, out of malice, in order to make him commit a transgression, they falsely said that they had made leftovers. If he heard and ate it, the reporter would commit a transgression. Sixth, the transgression of eating together: In Rajagriha, it was established for Devadatta and his entourage. At times when it is not allowed, such as when sick, etc., within the boundary, due to disagreements, they jointly initiated, separated from the Sangha, and gathered with three or more bhikshus to eat suitable food. Seventh, the transgression of eating at the wrong time: In Shravasti, it was established for the seventeen groups of young people. What is the time when it is not suitable to eat suitable food? That is, from noon after the sun has passed the monastery where the bhikshu resides until the first light of dawn appears. During this time, if you eat without any reason such as illness, you will commit as many transgressions as you swallow. Even if a patient eats, he should remind himself that this is allowed for the patient. Eighth, the transgression of eating stored food: It was established for the black bhikshu. Without any reason such as illness, he accepted and gave any of the four medicines, which became stored because they exceeded their own time limit, and were not rotten, and ate them in a non-famine period. Here are four situations derived from storage: handheld items, food cooked within the boundary, expired ghee, and food cooked by a bhikshu. The first is: wasting food.

etc., without any cause, a monk touches any food that has not been given or received. The second is: a monk cooks raw food within or near his own jurisdiction. The third is: extracting oil with such things within that boundary. The fourth is: a monk cooks such things anywhere inside or outside the boundary. These four, if eaten not for healing or in times of famine, become offenses. The ninth is the offense of eating without giving or receiving: not in an unpleasant place or the like, without oneself fasting or for healing etc., except for water and toothpicks, for any of the four medicines that have not been given, recognizing it there, swallowing more than one mouthful. Giving and receiving is: the giver is in front of the receiver's chest and behind, giving without being interrupted by other boundaries, and the receiver also receives with both hands upturned. The causes of the destruction of giving and receiving are: it is said in the Vinaya-vibhaṅga: Seizing and entangling and touching, Offering and non-monk, Essence changing and birth changing, Abandonment destroys giving and receiving. The tenth is the offense of begging for delicious food: oneself not having illness etc. as a cause, and things like milk etc. are called begging for delicious food in that place and time, not relatives of householders, not knowing that one can give as one pleases, begging and eating. The fifth group is the group of water and: including living beings. Sleeping in the remains of a water-using lazy person. Standing and walking naked in a secluded refuge. Watching the army, staying on the battlefield for more than two days. Conducting the deployment of the army and beating monks. Starting to beat, concealing the downfall of bad conduct. As such, among the ten, the first is the offense of using water with living beings: in Kauśāmbī (Kauśāmbī, कौशाम्बी, 憍赏弥) with desire. For one's own purpose, for water with living beings, bathing and drinking and washing clothes and stopping and changing etc., and cutting grass and trees and putting them into the fire etc., even seeing sentient beings die, one enjoys without regard, then there is as much downfall as there are deaths. Therefore, one should make a lamp room, and one should hold a water filter, and the types of water filters are: hanging water filters, bottle water filters with spouts, and water filters.
