Therefore, by the meaning of that which is equivalent to it but cannot be replaced, everything is included within the three of the inner path: the generation stage and the completion stage. The nine stages are: As the General Sutra says: "The definitively certain vehicle, appears definitely as three, namely, the arising guidance and the ascetic wisdom, and the vehicle of empowerment methods." Thus, each of the three is divided into three, so there are nine. First, the vehicle of arising guidance has three, of which the Shravaka is: Having determined the dharma-self, the grasped and the grasper, as ultimate, with the thought of self-peace, taking the vows of any of the eight types of Pratimoksha, abandoning misdeeds, making the mind workable with Samadhi, and with the wisdom of meditating on the sixteen aspects of the four truths, practicing from the fruit of stream-enterer up to the state of Arhat. The Pratyekabuddha is: Viewing the momentary consciousness as ultimate, on top of the sixteen aspects of the four truths similar to the Shravaka, adding the path of profound dependent origination and meditating, attaining the fruit of Pratyekabuddha Arhat, and showing the Dharma with the manifestations of the body. The Bodhisattva is: Having determined all dharmas as selfless, with the thought of benefiting others, practicing the ten perfections and the four ways of gathering disciples, with non-conceptual Samadhi, meditating on the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment on the path of learning, and believing that the ground of all-illuminating light is attained on the path of no-more-learning. These three represent the path that connects to the fruit, so it is the characteristic; ultimately relying on the wisdom of the union of Nirvana in mantra, it is the path of connection merely for the sake of that cause, so it is the cause; and it is called the three vehicles because of the internal divisions. Second, the vehicle of ascetic knowledge has three, of which Kriya, that is, in the Action Tantra, with the water and crown empowerment as the preliminary, realizing the true nature of oneself as ultimately pure, free from the four extremes, visualizing the true nature of the deity, visualizing oneself as the Samaya being through the door of the six deities, viewing the wisdom being as the lord and servant when inviting them in front, meditating on the mantra-recitation reality that focuses on sound, mind, and base, and the three realities of fire-place, sound-place, and sound-end, mainly practicing bathing and cleanliness, becoming the Vajra-holder of the three families.

Also wishing to attain that state. In Upayoga, the practice tantra, the authority of hand symbols and names is also conferred upon water and crowns, practicing like the view of Yoga and the conduct of Kriya. Meditating in front of oneself, generating as a samaya being, looking at the wisdom deity as a sibling or friend. By stabilizing recitation and samadhi, one wishes to attain the state of the four families of Vajradhara. In Yoga, the yoga tantra, on top of the vajra disciple's empowerment, the master's empowerment, including the surrounding elements, is also conferred. In the ultimate truth, the blessings of the signless nature of reality are viewed as the deity of the mundane Vajradhatu. Through the five manifest enlightenments and the four miracles, meditating on oneself as the deity, inviting and absorbing the wisdom deity, sealing with the four seals, and then making offerings, praises, recitations, etc. Finally, unsealing the seals and requesting them to depart is the yoga of means, and meditating on the suchness of the mind is the yoga of wisdom. Primarily focusing on inner samadhi, and also relying on external practices such as cleanliness as aids, one wishes to be liberated in the place where abundant fruits are arranged. Because the acceptance and rejection, and the abandonment and cultivation of these three are similar in style to the outer characteristics of the vehicle of characteristics, they are called the three outer vehicles of the Thubpa (Buddha) tantra. The third, among the vehicles of empowering methods, there are three. The Maha Yoga, which is labeled as the father tantra of unsurpassed yoga, is matured by the profound and effective empowerment gathered by the four empowerments. By realizing that all the base dharmas are the nature of mind, indivisible emptiness and appearance, the supreme great Dharmakaya. The way of practicing the path, within Maha Yoga, is divided into the three tantras of father, mother, and non-duality. Among them, in the father tantras such as Guhyasamaja and Yamantaka, there is the elaboration of the expedient generation stage, and the practice of the completion stage's secret empowerment, with the emphasis on wind, hence the wisdom of clarity and emptiness, non-conceptualization. In the mother tantras such as Samvara, there is only a small part of the generation stage, the practice of the completion stage's wisdom empowerment, with the emphasis on the element, bodhicitta, and bindu, hence the wisdom of bliss and emptiness, non-conceptualization. In the non-dual tantras such as the Mayajala, there is the union of generation and completion stages, and in particular, the practice of the fourth empowerment of the completion stage, bliss and clarity, non-conceptuality.
