It is said that only by relying on the supreme path of maturation and liberation of the Great Secret can one attain the state of complete and perfect enlightenment. Although there appear to be countless Dharma doors that reveal profound and vast meanings, the ultimate fruit, the complete and perfect Buddha, cannot be attained without relying on the supreme path of maturation and liberation of the Great Secret Vajrayana. Why is this so? Because merely abandoning the subtle conceptualizations that bind one to samsara is not enough. As it is said in "The Differentiation of Actions in the Naga Collection": Even if one gives away one's head, hands, and feet, one will not attain the fruit of enlightenment because appearances are not completely purified. As such, if one needs to completely abandon the three appearances or the obscurations of transference, the path to abandon these obscurations is not taught in the Paramita Vehicle. Therefore, it is said in the Guhyagarbha Tantra: In the ten directions of the six realms, all the mandalas of the victorious ones that have appeared in the past and present are naturally perfected with the five kayas after being approached. This is why. Secondly, as long as the mind's activity is not exhausted, the number of inconceivable vehicles is endless. They are merely resting places to lead to the one vehicle path, with each attaining its corresponding fruit along with something higher. As it is said in the Lankavatara Sutra: As long as the mind's activity continues, there is no end to the vehicles. Although various temporary vehicles are established, they are taught as a means to guide beings who are to be tamed by them, and ultimately lead them to the supreme Vajrayana, the one path of all Buddhas, as mere resting places. Although these vehicles of the path each attain a fruit that corresponds to them, this is not sufficient, as there is still something higher to be traversed. As it is also said in the Essence: The distinctions of the grounds are also the path to enter the secret essence. And as it is said in the Lotus Sutra: The sages teach the three vehicles, the guides are skilled in means, there is one vehicle, not two, the three vehicles are taught for the sake of pacification. The meaning is similar to these, and the meaning of pacification is, as it is said in the Lankavatara Sutra: For those exhausted by the path of existence, it is for the sake of rest, it is not the reality. Thus, it is the meaning of temporary rest. Thirdly, even if one attains each

The Soi Ngejung (སོའི་ངེས་འབྱུང་) says: "If one does not enter the one vehicle path, how can one attain the fruit?" This means that each of the vehicles of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Kriya Yoga necessarily liberate from their respective opposing sides, such as samsara and the two extremes, and thus attain the fruit of Nirvana. However, one must still enter the unsurpassed Great Vehicle, because the perfect Buddha arises from the supreme vehicle of mantra. Therefore, if one does not enter it, what ultimate fruit can be attained? None. As it is said in the Jambhala Mayajala (འཇམ་དཔལ་སྒྱུ་དྲྭ་): "The liberation of the three vehicles abides in the fruit of the one vehicle." And in the Don Dam Nyenpa (དོན་དམ་བསྙེན་པ་) it is also said: "The Shravaka vehicle itself is not a vehicle, the Pratyekabuddha is not the land of the Victorious Ones. The glorious Vajrayana is the vehicle of the Victorious Ones, and it is divided into intermediate and final vehicles. Therefore, abandoning the unsurpassed vehicle, one will not attain the unsurpassed enlightenment that is desired." Secondly, here, according to the Dzogchen system, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas are called the "three vehicles of characteristic cause." Kriya, Upa, and Yoga are the three outer tantras. The unsurpassed Father Tantra Maha Yoga and Mother Tantra Anu Yoga, and the non-dual tantra Ati Yoga are the three inner tantras, which are summarized into nine vehicles. In general, the word "yana" (ཡཱ་ན) derived from the term "vehicle" means to ride. Here, because the path progresses from high to low, it is similar to riding, hence it is called "vehicle." Although it is called the nine vehicles in order, it does not mean that there are nine different dharmas, because the vehicles of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are only a part of the actual path and the fruit of liberation, and do not fully show the path and fruit of liberation. Moreover, even if one's own fruit reaches the peak, one must enter the Great Vehicle, because one cannot be independent, so it is included in the Great Vehicle. Although the Great Vehicle Prajnaparamita and the three outer tantras show the classification of the ultimate fruit, they do not fully show the path to travel there. The unsurpassed mantra vehicle shows it completely, so it is not only superior, but also all the forms of the path and fruit of the cause and effect vehicles below Yoga are included in the unsurpassed mantra, and the uncommon characteristics of the unsurpassed vehicle are not present in those vehicles.
