The indivisible mind-essence is spontaneously accomplished and perfectly complete within the great mandala of the three kayas, which are inseparable from the very beginning. Therefore, it is called the Great Perfection. Since it is the all-pervading wisdom of samsara and nirvana, it is the general essence of all wisdoms. As it is said in the Magical Manifestation Sutra: "Self-born wisdom, bodhichitta, the essence of enlightenment, is uncreated. Adorned with the blazing qualities of complete perfection, it is the unsurpassed, spontaneously accomplished mandala." Also, in the Essence Sutra: "Without bondage, without liberation, the Buddha's dharma is spontaneously perfect from the beginning." And in the Ocean Sutra: "The Buddha's dharma is spontaneously enlightened from the beginning. Because it abides in all sentient beings, the spontaneously accomplished mandala of the Victorious Ones abides in the bodies of all sentient beings." And in the Extensive Sutra: "It is not the basis of all conceptual thoughts, the basis of meaning is without self-nature. That is called the nature of the dharmadhatu, the wisdom of suchness." And in the Heart Drop Sutra: "The ground, abiding awareness, essence, nature, and compassion—these three are the essence of the Victorious Ones. It is taught that the three kayas abide as their inherent nature." If we divide this essence in terms of the support and the supported, as it says in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Self-nature and extensiveness, these are the support and the supported, existence and non-existence, and qualities, should be understood for the sake of liberation." Therefore, the aspect of the emptiness of the dharmadhatu is the cause of the dharmakaya and the svabhavikakaya, just as a treasure of jewels is the basis for fulfilling all desires. It opens the door for the arising of kayas and wisdom, and therefore it is the self-existing lineage. The aspect of the light of wisdom that arises from it is the cause of the two rupakayas, just as a fruit-bearing tree grows. By the power of being free from adverse conditions and obscurations, the qualities that are inherent within will definitely manifest, and therefore it is the lineage of increasing transformation. As it is also said in the Uttaratantra: "Like a treasure and a fruit-bearing tree, these two lineages should be known: the beginningless, self-existing abiding, and the truly newly acquired, supreme nature. It is desired that the three kayas of the Buddha are obtained from these two lineages. The first is the first kaya, and the second is the latter two." Thus it is. If we divide it in terms of the state, since the nature of reality is impartial and all-pervading, there is no division in its own essence. However, in the impure sentient beings who possess that lineage,
