Listening to explanations that grasp the words and guide the meaning leads to attaining the position of a scholar. Those with high intelligence, on top of that, study various treatises of the characteristic vehicle such as the Vinaya and Prajnaparamita, and also study other fields of knowledge as much as they can, with the armor of not abandoning their respective resolutions. The teachers impartially make exhortations of altruism that do not waste the minds of others. In the two Dharma seasons of summer and winter, they engage in hearing and thinking, mainly through the exposition of the scriptures. In the two Dharma seasons of autumn and spring, they receive the vows of individual liberation and the Bodhisattva vows, along with empowerments, transmissions, and pith instructions, seeking whatever will ripen and liberate their own minds. In particular, regarding the daily practice, from the perspective of not confusing what to adopt and abandon, they study the rough precepts of individual liberation and the Bodhisattva vows. For those who are inclined towards the generation stage, they practice the recitation of the deity they prefer, such as the peaceful and wrathful Guru, Mahakarunika, Mayajala, the Eight Herukas, Vajrakilaya, Yamantaka, etc., for six months, and through continuous daily meditation and recitation, they transform the three aspects of body, appearance, and mind into the pure mandala of vast wisdom. Regarding the twenty-eight root vows, etc., from the perspective of distinguishing the object and aspect, they do not confuse what to adopt and abandon. If they mainly practice the completion stage, they receive any kind of pith instruction, such as the two Nyingthig, the Vajra Bridge, or the newly revealed treasures, ensuring that experience arises in their minds, so that they are not robbed by the obscurations of the four states. For individuals of the highest capacity, being in the Sangha or in solitude is the same; for individuals of medium capacity, practicing virtue in solitude will increase, but for individuals of lower capacity, staying in a place of laziness will not tame the mind, wasting their own minds, indulging in laziness and distraction, and being unable to give up even alcohol and afternoon meals. Therefore, a Sangha that is in accordance with one's own mind is a qualified Sangha, contributing to the activities of the Dharma, and perfectly accomplishing the two benefits. So, do not go to solitude because of being tired of the Sangha, and do not let thoughts be too unrestrained. If one is indeed going to practice, and a retreat with a fixed number of years and months arises, it is very important to enter the retreat house of Sukhavati on the premise of not deviating from the common rules of the Sangha, and after completing the retreat, to remain in the Sangha as before, without violating this. In short, spending the days and nights through the activities of hearing, thinking, and meditating, one becomes a virtuous and excellent scholar.

One should become a field of merit worthy of praise by the wise, laden with the burden of qualities. Having established abiding by such discipline as a basis, the order of how to act during a single day and night is as follows: Firstly, prompted by the disciplinarian monk with the city horn, without lingering in the comfort of the bed, one should rise with the yoga posture. Those who are weak should be awakened by their teachers and respective roommates. With proper posture, one should begin with refuge and bodhicitta, and engage in reliance, offerings, prayers (such as prayers to the sun, south, west, etc.), and receiving the four empowerments, integrating them with non-compulsory Dharma traditions. The disciplinarian monk should inspect and, if someone is not reciting, signal and remind them. After the session, one should engage in practices such as recitation and meditation, or practice reciting scriptures, without sleeping lazily, and focus primarily on reviewing scriptures from dawn. When the signal for rising for the morning session is given, while reciting prayers as one wishes, such as "Dispelling Attachment, Great Bliss Mother" and "Confession," one should dress neatly and appropriately. In rotation, each monk should be followed by two novices to make offerings, and each group of four monks should take turns offering white torma, water offerings to Dzambhala, the hundred and eight offerings, the four elements, etc., continuously without interruption, completing them before the morning assembly. When the first assembly horn is blown, one should wear the round hat and maintain consistent conduct. While reciting quietly, one should gather in front of the door of the corridor, take off shoes, and wash up. When the second horn is blown, one should prostrate three times towards the five places from the lower corridor, and then each should sit upright in their respective seats in the lotus position. One should not sit directly on the seat without a cushion, nor should one spit, blow one's nose, or wipe one's hands. Except for those who are high-ranking, from noble families, and masters of both Sutra and Tantra who need to be arranged in the front row, others should sit only according to the order of learning and not rush to the front. The order of recitation is: the Seven-Line Prayer, refuge and bodhicitta, abiding blessing, invitation and bathing, etc., should precede. Then, in rotation every three days, once each morning, one should perform the extensive seven-branch offering, generate bodhicitta, and each…
