So it is said. Third, there are three distinctions regarding the abode, cause, and teaching of the Dharma. First, like a rhinoceros horn, the body's abode is to dwell alone. When gathering, one dwells together with many Dharma friends. Both abodes of speech mainly abide in strict silence. The abode of mind is to realize profound dependent origination, and to keep the three doors of liberation in mind and abide. Second, it is said that if one transforms for the benefit of others by means of clairvoyance, one wanders for alms in villages and cities, etc. By means of miraculous powers, one makes the non-believers believe, and it is said that one establishes the believers in higher realms and definite goodness. Third, having known the differences in the faculties of the disciples by means of clairvoyance, due to the power of previous aspirations, one teaches the Dharma through the bodily expressions that are in accordance with the individual thoughts of the disciples, and thus one is able to generate the realization as desired. This is also done mainly, and if one is a solitary buddha, it is not necessarily the case that one does not teach the Dharma with sound. Fourth, according to the Bodhisattvabhumi, the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas are considered to have no difference in terms of abandonment and realization. In the Bodhisattvabhumi, it says: "The Solitary Buddhas should be understood to be like the Hearers, because they are the same as the Hearers in the nature of the path." So it is said. Teacher Legdan 'byed and others also hold the same view. In the Blaze of Reasoning, it says: "By merely familiarizing oneself with the absence of self of persons, one desires a lower result, and thus one obtains a lower distinction, just like Hearers and Solitary Buddhas." So it is said. In this Ornament, it is reasonable to have a difference between Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, because the Arhat Hearers realize the absence of self of persons to the ultimate, while the Arhat Solitary Buddhas realize the absence of self of phenomena to the ultimate, and there is such a difference. Fifth, due to the power of aspiration, Solitary Buddhas are definitely those who have a basis in the desire realm. In the Compendium, it says: "This is the power of aspiration, and due to the power of aspiration, one is born in the desire realm itself, and if there is no Buddha appearing, one becomes a Solitary Buddha." So it is said. Sixth, the four fruitional abodes are not applied to Solitary Buddhas, because in the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, these abodes are only connected to Hearers, and Solitary Buddhas are mentioned separately. In the extensive explanation of the root text of the Root Knowledge, it says: Constantly entering

Because it is said that there are: Srotapanna, Sakrdagamin, Anagamin, Arhat, and Pratyekabuddha. The meaning of the words is: Pratyekabuddha Arhat, in terms of Dharma, is more superior than Sravaka Arhat, because the object of grasping, the selflessness of Dharma, is ultimately realized. The second is, in order to abandon the conceptual thought of the object of grasping. In the context of "two," the first aspect is: determining the knowable Pratyekabuddha path, how to know the reason, the subject-object path wisdom, and the four ways of teaching in the sutras and treatises. The first three can be inferred from the previous ones, and the fourth has: the true situation of the way of teaching, and the characteristics of such a statement. The first is: abandoning the conceptual thought of the object of grasping, not abandoning the conceptual thought of the grasper, the Pratyekabuddha path with the characteristics of the three bases, truly declares the subject-object path wisdom that directly realizes selflessness, while the Pratyekabuddha's own continuum path is indirectly declared. Then, is there a contradiction between "not abandoning attachment" here and the sutra saying "having intermediate wisdom faculties"? There is no fault, because those are only said in terms of the difference of the Pratyekabuddha's realization lineage. The second aspect has: abandoning the conceptual thought of the object of grasping, not abandoning the conceptual thought of the grasper, and the three differences of the base. The first aspect has: quoting the sutra and explaining its meaning. The first is: the sutra says: Sons of the gods, form is not profound, not subtle. And so on, consciousness is not profound, not subtle. Why is that? Because the nature of form is not profound, not subtle. Because of this reason. The second is: because the Pratyekabuddha realizes that the meaning of the external object of grasping is unreal, therefore, for the clinging to it as real, even the seeds of the clinging to reality can be abandoned on one's own path. The second aspect also has two, the first is: the sutra says: Then those sons of the gods thought, in what way should we seek to listen to the Dharma from the venerable Subhuti? Then, the venerable Subhuti completely knew the conceptual thoughts of the minds of those sons of the gods with his mind, and then said to those sons of the gods: Sons of the gods, listening to the Dharma from me should be sought as if it were an illusion, as if it were a transformation. The second is: the object, the meaning of the external object of grasping is like an illusion.
