Furthermore, there are three categories of how rebirth is taken. The first includes manifestation, seed, and habit. The definition of the first: a consciousness that apprehends the appearance of its own object by not completely pacifying the mindstream. Examples: root afflictions, secondary afflictions, and all minds and mental factors that correspond to them. The definition of the second: a potentiality left in the mindstream by previous similar afflictions, which, when encountering conditions, can generate subsequent afflictions. The second is that the first two afflictions mentioned earlier are not the afflictions referred to here, because the afflictions referred to here are the cause for Bodhisattva Aryas to take rebirth for the benefit of others, since they have already abandoned being born and dying under the control of karma and afflictions. The Ratnagotravibhāga states, "Aryas have completely abandoned the suffering of death, disease, and old age." Therefore, it is established from the perspective of the third, and among them, there are two types of afflictive habits: those that hinder enlightenment and those that become its companions. The first is not, because (Bodhisattvas) simultaneously abandon afflictive obscurations and cognitive obscurations. Therefore, it is the second, because Bodhisattva Aryas deliberately hold onto it as a limb of accumulating merit for the benefit of others. The Sutra Requested by Kashyapa states, "Just as the impure excrement of people in a city is beneficial to a sugarcane field, the excrement of afflictions of a Bodhisattva increases the Buddha's teachings."

It is beneficial to you. As Asanga said: Those endowed with great means, Samsara and Nirvana are of the nature of peace, Afflictions and Bodhi become limbs, Those sons of the Victorious Ones are inconceivable. Thus. Third, the cause of taking birth, and how to take birth, are two aspects. First, Hinayana trainees and ordinary beings take birth under the power of karma and afflictions, because they have not abandoned the seeds, so they are born and die in samsara even against their will. Hinayana Arhats and noble Bodhisattvas take birth in samsara relying on the ground of ignorance and habitual tendencies, and the cause of uncontaminated karma, the former to attain nirvana without remainder, the latter to accumulate merit for the sake of others, they must take a mind-made body, because they have completely abandoned the two causes of karma and afflictions. Second, just as Hinayana trainees and ordinary beings are instigated by afflictions, accumulate contaminated karma, and thus accomplish the two interdependent links of taking birth in samsara. Similarly, Hinayana Arhats and noble Bodhisattvas also take the ground of ignorance and habitual tendencies as the condition, and uncontaminated karma as the cause, and take a mind-made body, and it is said that they perform inconceivable death and transmigration. The meaning of the words is: Bodhisattvas on the path of seeing, have the habitual tendencies of afflictions that are the cause of taking birth in samsara for the sake of others, and there is a reason for deliberately holding on to them and not abandoning them, because they are noble sons of the Victorious Ones who have entered into benefiting sentient beings as long as the samsara of those to be tamed is not empty. Second, in the knowledge of the path with limbs, there are three types of knowledge of the path: Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and the Mahayana. First, in the manner of the knowledge of the path itself, there are two in the "time". First, there are four aspects: identifying the three knowable paths, how to know them, the object-possessing path knowledge, and how they are taught in the sutras and treatises. First, the realization of the absence of self of persons and the meaning of the path of the Hearers are the same. The divisions are: the three knowable paths of the Hearers that exist in the continuums of the Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Mahayana. Similarly, the apprehended dharma and the meaning of the path of the Solitary Realizers are the same. The divisions are: the two that exist in the continuums of the Solitary Realizers and the Mahayana.
