And, the karma that arises from the power of afflictions. Thus it is said. What is the basis of division? The first characteristic is that which is gathered by afflictions that do not thoroughly pacify the mind stream. The basis is the root and near afflictions. Such as the mind and mental factors that are in accordance with them. What is that? The self-cause is the contaminated karma that arises from the power of afflictions. The divisions are: non-virtuous karma that throws one into the three lower realms, and virtuous karma that throws one into the happy realms. Fourth, there are two boundaries of abandonment, those of the Lesser Vehicle and the Great Vehicle. The first is: if one attains Arhatship, it is pervasive that one has abandoned the arising of afflictions. The arising of karma, in the case of the remainder of Nirvana, there are both abandoned and unabandoned. Having attained the remainderless, both suffering and arising are abandoned. Samsara is abandoned by all Arhats. For example, the aggregates of a Hearer Arhat abiding in the remainder of Nirvana are the truth of suffering, but not samsara. The second is: for those who have previously gone on the Lesser Vehicle path, from the path of accumulation onwards, there are also cases where both are abandoned. For those who have not gone on it, the arising is abandoned from the first ground onwards, and the truth of suffering can go up to the eighth ground. As it says in the Ornament: When the five faculties have changed, all purposes are accomplished, hundreds of thousands of qualities arise, and supreme wealth is obtained. Thus it is said. Second, there are four: characteristic, explanation of terms, division, and the boundary of attainment. The first is: on the basis of the object to be negated, on the mind stream, the individual discriminating cessation attained by the power of the unobstructed path that obstructs the seeds of what is to be abandoned, which is one's own share. It is the stainless, pure truth that is the essence of the wisdom that directly realizes selflessness. The second is: children regard the truth of cessation as a precipice, and the truth of the path as a executioner who leads them there. The noble ones regard the truth of cessation as bliss, and the truth of the path as a guide. Since those two are established according to the view of the noble ones, they are called the noble truths. Third, there are two divisions: the truth of cessation and the truth of the path. The first is: from the perspective of the vehicle, there are three cessations of Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Bodhisattvas. From the perspective of what is to be abandoned, there are three cessations that are liberated from the three obscurations. If it is from the perspective of imputation, like the cessation of the continuum of ordinary beings and noble ones, it is convention and ultimate meaning.

Of. Such as the cessation of the path of no more learning and the path of learning, whether complete or incomplete; such as having or not having eyes and direct knowledge, whether adorned or unadorned; such as being liberated or not liberated from the seeds of what is to be abandoned by one's own share, these are the cessations of separate examination and non-separate examination. Secondly, from the perspective of the vehicle, there are three: from the perspective of the entity, there are the three paths of seeing, meditation, and no more learning. Fourthly, there are two boundaries between the truth of cessation and the truth of the path. Firstly, in the Hinayana's path of seeing, at the moment of obtaining the forbearance of the Dharma of suffering, there is no truth of cessation, because not even a little of the seeds to be abandoned have been abandoned. Therefore, in the Hinayana, from the knowledge of the Dharma of suffering to the path of no more learning, the Mahayana has it in the continuum of all noble ones. Secondly, it is obtained by all noble ones of the great and small vehicles. Secondly, the main object of knowledge for those seeking liberation is definitely the four truths with their cycles, because it is definitely the cause and effect to be abandoned and the cause and effect to be taken. Therefore, if it is the main object of knowledge for those seeking liberation, it does not necessarily include any of the four truths, such as Shakyamuni Buddha. Thirdly, the order of the four truths taught here is the order of realization, because when a person seeking liberation establishes knowledge, they first understand that the three realms are the nature of suffering. After that, the mind of wanting to abandon the origin arises. After that, the mind of seeking the cessation of abandoning all suffering arises. After that, one must diligently study the path. In the Ratnagotravibhāga, it says: Disease should be known, the cause of disease should be abandoned, happiness should be attained, and medicine should be taken. Suffering should be known, the cause of suffering should be abandoned, cessation should be attained, and the path should be practiced. Fourthly, based on abiding in pure morality, the training of concentration arises, where the mind abides in one-pointedness on the object. Relying on that, the training of wisdom arises, which understands the meaning of reality. Thereby, from the root, the self-grasping, which is the root of suffering and is included in the origin, is cut off. Manifesting liberation and nirvana, which is the abandonment of all suffering, is the order of realizing the four truths. The meaning of the words is: Truth.
