The perfections symbolized by ten things such as a king, medicine, a virtuous friend, a wish-fulfilling jewel, the sun, and a song of Dharma, and the mind of enlightenment corresponding to the ten perfections. The fourth is: the mind of enlightenment corresponding to the five things such as a great king, a treasury, a great road, a fine vehicle, and wonderful water, which symbolize direct perception, the two accumulations, the factors of enlightenment, great compassion and superior insight, and retention and eloquence. The fifth is: the mind of enlightenment corresponding to the three things such as beautiful sound, a river, and clouds, which symbolize the joyous feast of Dharma, the single path, and the Dharmakaya. Sixth, the mind of enlightenment of the stage of faith, the mind of pure higher intention, the mind of ripening, and the mind of abandoning obscurations. The minds of enlightenment in the continuum of ordinary beings of the Great Vehicle are the first type, because they are minds of enlightenment that believe in the selflessness of phenomena in a general way. The impure minds of enlightenment are the second type, because they are minds of enlightenment that directly realize the equality of self and others through the aspect of effort. The pure mind of enlightenment is the third type, because it is a mind of enlightenment that is free from the aspect of effort and has not abandoned the imprints of the two obscurations. The mind of enlightenment of the Buddha stage is the fourth type, because it is a mind of enlightenment that has completely abandoned the imprints of the two obscurations. As it says in the Ornament: "The mind of enlightenment on the grounds, faith and higher intention, purity and ripening, are considered different, as is the abandonment of obscurations." The fourth exists from the accumulation path of the Great Vehicle to the Buddha stage. The various distinctions of the mind of enlightenment are included from the ground of the first karmic person to the Buddha stage. As it is said. Second, in terms of what to learn: one must rely on the cause of non-decline, recognize the cause of decline, and examine whether it is the cause of abandoning the root downfall vows. In the first aspect: the causes of non-decline in this life are three kinds of mindfulness, the causes of non-decline in the next life are three kinds of means, and the causes of non-decline in both are five kinds of aspirations, etc. The first is: the benefits of generating the mind of enlightenment, the faults of decline, and the difficulty of obtaining it.

Also, it is to keep in mind. The second is: practicing the seven branches in the three times, supplicating the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, abandoning the works of demons that are contrary to the Dharma. The third is: cherishing sentient beings, the Dharma, the mind of enlightenment, and spiritual friends, and desiring to quickly attain Buddhahood. In the second aspect, there are two types of precepts: those of the Madhyamaka school and those of the Chittamatra school. First, as explained in the "Akashagarbha Sutra," there are fourteen root downfalls, but if summarized, as explained in the "Skillful Means Sutra," they can be summarized into four. As stated in the "Compendium of Trainings": "Abandoning the mind of enlightenment, with endless attachment and stinginess, not giving to beggars, being stern and displeasing, being intolerant towards sentient beings, angrily beating sentient beings, being in harmony with afflictions and others, pretending to teach like the Dharma." Second, as stated in the "Twenty Verses": "Being attached to gain and respect, praising oneself and disparaging others, being stingy and not giving Dharma and wealth to those who are suffering and without protectors, not listening to what others say, angrily quarreling with others, abandoning the Great Vehicle, and teaching what appears to be the true Dharma." Thus, one should train to abandon the four root downfalls and the forty-five branch downfalls. Third, the root downfall practiced with great entanglement is the cause of abandoning the entering vows, and abandoning the mind of seeking enlightenment for the sake of others is the cause of abandoning all Mahayana bodhicitta. As stated in the "Collection": "Even if one practices the ten virtuous actions for hundreds of thousands of eons, if one generates the desire to become an Arhat or a Pratyekabuddha, then at that time the discipline is flawed, the discipline is broken, and this mind is even heavier than a defeat." As stated in the "Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": "This is the heaviest of the Bodhisattva's downfalls; if this arises, it is detrimental to all sentient beings." As stated in the "Bodhisattva Grounds": "In short, with only two causes, the discipline of the Bodhisattva's precepts is completely abandoned: abandoning the aspiration for unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment, and practicing the great entanglement of dharmas that are like a place of defeat."
