Thus it is. According to the two, the Holy and the Sangha, among the two, mind and mental factors, the main one is mind. Furthermore, among the eight aggregates of consciousness, it is the mind's consciousness. Furthermore, among the various types, the mind's consciousness, which is grasped by the wisdom that realizes emptiness and which aims at the perfect enlightenment for the sake of others, is considered virtuous. As it says in the "Sunlight Commentary": "What is called generating the mind is the mind, which is the consciousness, that is, the discernment. What is the consciousness? It is the mind's consciousness, which aims at all white dharmas, because it exists there." And as it says in the "Meaningful Commentary": "Although it is true, however..." Because it is a true answer to the pervasion that if it is generating the mind, then it is not a mental factor. However, it is not contradictory that all six aggregates of consciousness become generating the mind at the stage of the Buddha. In the Rong Commentary, it says: "It is explained in both ways, because the main mind is established in relation to the action, and the mental factor is established in relation to the agent." Secondly, here, as explained by the two, the Holy and the Sangha, the main consciousness, which is the essence of the Mahayana path of liberation, aims at the perfect enlightenment for the sake of others in the manner of arising experience. Thirdly, there are six divisions: nature, subtle and gross, ritual, the way of generating the mind, example companions, and boundaries. First, there are two: aspiration and engagement. The definition of the first: The conventional mind generation that is not grasped by the bodhisattva vows of oneself and one's companions. The nature is: the mind generation of a bodhisattva on the path of accumulation who has just attained it without the preliminary ritual of bestowing the bodhisattva vows, and the mind generation of a bodhisattva on the path of accumulation who has broken the bodhisattva vows due to the root downfall practiced with great entanglement. The definition of the second: the conventional mind generation that is grasped by the bodhisattva's training companions of oneself and one's companions. The nature is: all mind generations of ordinary bodhisattvas who have the bodhisattva vows in their continuum, and the mind generations that appear in the subsequent attainment of noble bodhisattvas. Moreover, the first one cannot go beyond the path of preparation, because there is no mind generation that is not grasped by the vows beyond the path of preparation. The second one cannot exist in the meditative state of the Mahayana noble ones, because it is definitely a conventional mind generation.

Therefore, if it is aspirational bodhicitta at this time, it is not encompassed by the Bodhisattva vows; if it is entering bodhicitta, it is encompassed by the Bodhisattva vows, which is pervasive. As it is said in the "Bodhicaryāvatāra": "From the mind of aspiring for enlightenment, although great fruits arise in the cycle of existence, it is not like the mind of entering, where merit constantly arises. From when, for the sake of liberating limitless sentient beings, with an irreversible mind, whoever has well taken that mind, from that time on, even if sleeping or heedless, the power of merit is constant and uninterrupted, arising as vast as the sky." Furthermore, Dharma Friend said, "Aspiration is merely aspiration; even the ritual of generating bodhicitta has not been undertaken." Secondly, there are two types of bodhicitta: coarse, arising from convention, and subtle, obtained through the nature of reality. The former is synonymous with conventional bodhicitta, and the latter is synonymous with ultimate bodhicitta. The former has three aspects: definition, example, and classification. The first is: the bodhicitta of a Mahāyāna practitioner who does not possess the samādhi wisdom that directly realizes the nature of reality in self-awareness, but aims for complete enlightenment for the sake of others. The second is: all bodhicitta of the Mahāyāna path of accumulation and preparation, as well as the bodhicitta that is the nature of the post-meditation of noble Bodhisattvas. That is to say, the post-meditation bodhicitta of Bodhisattvas, etc., is established because its object is merely grasping at conventional truth. The bodhicitta of ordinary Bodhisattvas abiding in samādhi, etc., is established as conventional bodhicitta from the perspective of the individual who is the basis. Therefore, if one is an ultimate Bodhisattva, one must have obtained ultimate bodhicitta, as it is said in the "Bodhicaryāvatāra": "From then on, he is designated by the very word 'Bodhisattva' by the one who has obtained it." Thirdly, there are five types of bodhicitta obtained from the power of a virtuous spiritual friend, from the awakening of the Mahāyāna lineage, from the habituation of vast roots of virtue, from hearing many scriptures that teach Mahāyāna bodhicitta, and from the habituation of the object of Mahāyāna bodhicitta. The first is an unstable bodhicitta because it depends on other virtuous friends. The latter are stable.
