There are two types of divisions: one based on the three grounds and the other based on the three realms. The first is: The aforementioned eight that are unpredetermined, except for form and sound, the other three. This means that the eight form-possessing entities, except for form and sound, are all exclusively unpredetermined. Form and sound, along with the seven consciousness realms and the ten dharma realms, possess all three qualities. For form, upholding vows is virtuous form; for sound, lying and slander are non-virtuous sounds; conversely, speaking the truth is virtuous sound. The others are easy to understand. The second is: Everything belonging to the desire realm. In the form realm, there are fourteen. Except for the consciousness realms of smell, taste, nose, and tongue. The formless realm belongs to mind, dharma, and the consciousness realm of mind. This means that belonging to the desire realm, there are eighteen realms. Belonging to the form realm, there are fourteen. The four consciousnesses of smell, taste, nose, and tongue do not belong to the form realm. Belonging to the formless realm, there are only mind, dharma, and the consciousness of mind. The third, there are three types of divisions: from the perspective of with outflows and without outflows; from the perspective of with conceptualization and without conceptualization; and from the perspective of with objects and without objects. The first is: These three are both with outflows and without outflows. The rest are all with outflows. This means that the last three realms have both components of with outflows and without outflows. The remaining fifteen are all with outflows. The second, with conceptualization and without conceptualization, is divided into two: actual and argumentative. The first is: That which is with conception and discernment are the five consciousness realms. The last three have three types. The rest abandon both. This means that if viewed from the perspective of the five sense consciousnesses, they are usually with conception and discernment. If viewed from this perspective, as part of the other-transformation, conception and discernment also appear within the scope of the five sense consciousnesses. The last three realms have three situations: possessing both conception and discernment, without conception but with discernment, and abandoning both. The last three realms of the desire realm and the fundamental stabilization of the first dhyana are the first type. The last three realms of the special case of the fundamental stabilization of the first dhyana are the second type. The last three realms of the second dhyana and above, and the remaining fifteen realms, abandon both.

Because of that. Second, the refutation: It is through the discrimination of what is necessarily discriminated and remembered that one does not discriminate. Those are the mind's wisdom distracted, and all of the mind's memory itself. This means that it is unreasonable for the five sense consciousnesses to be with discrimination, because it is said to be without discrimination. If asked, there is no fault. The 'with discrimination' here is the 'with discrimination' within other transformations. The 'without discrimination' spoken of in the sutras refers to not discriminating with the discrimination of what must be discriminated and the discrimination of recollection. What are those two like? The first is: the mind consciousness as a friend and corresponding, arising in the state of distraction after attainment, its essence being the wisdom that cognizes its own object in the manner of a general meaning. The second is: corresponding to mind consciousness, arising in all simultaneous and subsequent attainments, its essence being memory consciousness. The third is: the seven mind realms with objects. Also, half of the Dharma. This means that the seven mind realms are with objects, because they are the wisdom that focuses on their own objects. Half of the Dharma realm, which is mental factors, is also with objects. Fourth, the distinctions from the perspective of form, etc., are four: distinctions from the perspective of grasping and not grasping, distinctions from the perspective of arising and what arises, distinctions from the perspective of accumulation and non-accumulation, and distinctions from the perspective of what is to be severed and what severs. The first is: nine ungrasped. Those eight and sound, the other nine are of two kinds. This means that the ability of tangible things to create feelings of pleasure and pain through mutual contact and harm is called grasping, and the inability is called not grasping. The seven consciousness aggregates, mental factors, the eighth sound, and the ninth are called ungrasped, because they cannot produce the above. The other nine tangible things have both grasping and not grasping qualities. The second is: touch is of two kinds, the remaining nine tangible things are, also one part of the Dharma realm that arises. This means that touch has both arising and what arises. The remaining nine tangible things and one part of the Dharma realm, which are non-substantial forms, are all that arises. Third, the distinction from the perspective of accumulation and non-accumulation: ten tangible things are accumulated.
