Below that, in the sky called adorned with precious Kekeru, there is immeasurable light because the body has immeasurable light. The body measures four yojanas and the lifespan is four intermediate kalpas. Below that, in the sky called precious brave light, the light is smaller than the one above, so it is small light. The body measures two yojanas and the lifespan is two intermediate kalpas. These three are the second dhyana. Now, the three abodes of the first dhyana are explained: Below that, in the sky called precious Keruja, the faults of the desire realm are eliminated, it is pure, and the body is larger than the ones below, so it is the great Brahma. The king of this place is one who, without moving from his own abode, shows emanations in all the lower divine abodes. Below that, in the sky called precious Pitangka, having abandoned sins and abiding in the four immeasurables, he is the god called Brahma. Moreover, these skies all have the same color as the light of those jewels, so the appearance of the sky is white, yellow, red, green, and so on. The birth of these beings is also like a rainbow appearing in the sky, accompanied by immeasurable palaces, they are born instantaneously by manifestation. And because they enjoy the bliss of samadhi, they do not need coarse food, and there is no suffering like that of the desire realm, and there are no gross conceptualizations manifesting, such as anger and strife, because they are moistened by tranquility. This is also because they have previously cultivated the nature of the four immeasurables, such as loving-kindness, and manifested the fruit. However, because they possess afflictions and obscurations, they have no autonomy over death and existence, therefore they have the suffering of unfavorable circumstances.
