Because there are four tactile sensations of the four elements and seven tactile sensations arising from them. The latter seven are: soft and rough, heavy and light, hunger and thirst, cold, these seven. Third, there are two types: the entity and the incidental. The first is: When distracted and without mind, whatever good and non-good follows, the four great elements are taken as the cause, that is called non-revealing form. That is to say, the permanent, unobstructed form possessing four characteristics is established as non-revealing form. The four characteristics are: the characteristic of the state, the characteristic of the entity, the characteristic of the continuity, and the characteristic of the cause. The first is: it arises not only when not distracted and with mind, but also when distracted and without mind. The second is: encompassed by either good or non-good. The third is: possessing a continuity in which the later follows the earlier. The fourth is: because it is the resultant form with the four great elements as the cause. Here, some people think that the Pratimoksha vows mainly belong to non-revealing form, and there are both the Pratimoksha vows that are the nature of revealing form, which is called "three kinds of non-revealing and revealing." "Vows and non-vows and others, vows are called Pratimoksha, likewise, undefiled meditative birth." And "Immoral conduct is non-virtuous form, abandoning those two is morality." If you say so, that is very unreasonable, because it contradicts the self-commentary, which says, "If there is no non-revealing form, then the Pratimoksha vows will also not be established." If someone says, "In the explanation of 'the first revealing and non-revealing,' isn't it said 'the revealing form of taking the pure vows,' etc.?" Although it is said that way, it means that the first moment of non-revealing form is both Pratimoksha and its vows, and from its second moment onwards there are only vows, while the first moment of revealing form is only Pratimoksha, and its second moment etc. are neither, thus explaining that the discipline encompassed by revealing and non-revealing form has four sentences of Pratimoksha and vows, rather than showing that revealing form and vows have a common basis.

That is not. Furthermore, if the self-commentary of "Two Kinds of Seven Virtues" states that the discipline arising from proper acceptance depends on expression, then the seven corporeal paths of action undoubtedly have both expression and non-expression. If someone says this contradicts the above statement, it does not. The meaning there is that the expression and non-expression that constitute the nature of the seven virtues of body and speech, although said to exist in the actual stage of the path, the expression at that time is not included in the actual path of action. Second: The elements are the earth element, water, fire, and wind elements, etc., formed by functions such as holding. Hardness, wetness, heat, and movement, etc. In worldly terms, color and shape are called earth, water and fire are also, the aggregate of wind is the wind element itself, and it is similar to that. This is to say that there are four aspects: the classification of the elements, their functions, their nature, and related questions and answers. The first is: the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind. The second is: earth holds, water gathers, fire ripens, and wind increases. The third is: hardness and roughness are earth, dampness and moisture are water, heat and burning are fire, and lightness and movement are the characteristics of the wind element. Fourth: What is the difference between earth, etc., and the earth element, etc.? There is a difference, because in worldly terms, the color and shape of the four elements are called the four elements. This is because it is said that earth is yellow and square, water is white and round, and fire is red and triangular. The aggregate of wind is the wind element itself. Similar to the previous three elements, it is also said that wind is blue and round. Second, extracting from that, the way to establish them as realms and sources is: Roots and objects, only those, are established as ten sources and realms. It means that when these ten roots and objects are established as realms and sources, they are considered to be ten corporeal sources and their realms. Here, the word "only" means to exclude the two non-expressive forms. According to the Abhidharmakośa, the eye source, the eye realm, and the eye faculty are three.
