One, it only revolves around the Dharma. Third, it is divided into two: approximation and actual practice. The first is: Formless approximation has four, one that goes upward in the form realm. It means that the approximation of the formless realm of infinite space has four, that is, it goes to and focuses on the four objects of the four formless meditations. There, one goes upward and focuses on the formless realm, only revolving around the Dharma. The second is: In actual practice, one has its own object. It means that in the actual practice of the formless realm, there is one mental sensation, because it must be the only proximate cause of the Dharma with its own object in its own realm. The third is: All eighteen are with outflows, saying and explaining are different. It means that all eighteen mental sensations mentioned here are with outflows, because they are the dependent origination of all afflictions. Second, the remaining depends on saying and explaining, because there is a reason to show only four dependent originations here, consciousness, birth place, and form have been said, other formations and existence are shown by karma, and the two of craving and grasping are shown in a subtle way, so they will be explained. Third, summarizing the meaning from the way of symbolizing afflictions with metaphors, it is divided into the all-afflictive afflictions symbolized by five metaphors, the all-afflictive actions symbolized by three metaphors, and the all-afflictive basis symbolized by one metaphor. The first is: Here afflictions are like seeds, like dragons, like roots, like trees, similarly thought of as like shells. It means that here the all-afflictive afflictions are like seeds, just as sprouts and trunks are born from seeds, karma and basis are born from it. It is like a dragon, just as the sea does not dry up where the dragon is, if there are afflictions, the ocean of birth will not dry up. It is like the root of a tree, just as branches and so on will be born if the root of the tree is not cut off, if afflictions are not cut off from the root, then samsara and so on will be born. It is like a tree, just as flowers and fruits are born from a tree at different times, karma and basis will also be born again and again from it. It is thought of as like the husk of grain,

Just as a seedless fruit cannot produce a sprout, karma devoid of afflictions cannot produce a fully ripened result. Secondly: Karma is like a fruit with its husk, like medicine and like a flower. This means that karma is like a fruit with its husk; just as a fruit with its husk can produce a sprout, karma with afflictions can produce a fully ripened result. Similarly, it is like medicine; just as medicine that has exhausted its potency cannot produce potency again, karma that has produced a fully ripened result cannot produce a fully ripened result again. It is like a flower, as a flower is the proximate cause of a fruit, so karma is the proximate cause of a fully ripened result. Thirdly: The basis is like food and drink that has been prepared. This means that the seven bases are like food and drink that have been prepared; just as that can only be consumed, so these seven have already become the result of karma and afflictions, so they cannot produce a fully ripened result again. Secondly, examining the distinctions between the four states of existence: Among these four states of existence, the state of birth is afflicted, all afflictions of one's own ground, the other three are the three formless realms. This means that there are four states of existence: the intermediate state, the birth state, the previous state, and the death state. Among these, the birth state is only afflicted; there is no virtue or undeclared. Moreover, it is afflicted by all the afflictions of its own ground. The other three states of existence have all three: virtue, non-virtue, and undeclared. That is, in the desire and form realms, all four states of existence are present, while in the formless realm, there are three, excluding the intermediate state. Thirdly, regarding the means by which beings exist, a brief explanation is given from the perspective of the function of food, the individual characteristics are explained in detail, and the meaning is summarized from the perspective of numbers. Firstly: Beings exist by food. This means that the five types of beings mentioned earlier exist by food, as it says in the sutra: All sentient beings exist by food. Secondly, it is divided into: food with form, food without form, and names for the intermediate state. The first is: Coarse food is in the desire realm, the nature of the three sources. The source of form is not there, self
