That is, afflictions, karma, and basis. There are three afflictions: ignorance and craving. There are two karmas: action and existence. There are seven bases: consciousness and the remaining seven, because they are the support of karma and afflictions. The second is, the cause and effect of the two are abbreviated, inferred from the middle. It means that the seven are the basis, and also the result, and the remaining five are called the dependent origination of the cause. Also, why is it that the middle says that there are three causes and five effects, and the causes are abbreviated at the beginning and end, and the effects are abbreviated at the end? It is necessary to show it in this way, because the cause and effect are abbreviated in order at the beginning and end, and from the inference of the great cause and effect in the middle, the cause and effect at the beginning and end also indicate that they are great. That is, at the beginning, the cause is abbreviated, because it is abbreviated into ignorance and action. It is necessary to show it in this way, because it is to know that there are two kinds of causes in the middle. At the end, the effect is abbreviated, because it is abbreviated into birth and old age. It is necessary to show it in this way, because it is to know that there are also those two kinds in the middle. The cause and effect in the middle are widely explained, because there are five kinds from consciousness to feeling in the effect, and three kinds of craving, grasping, and existence are explained in the cause. It is necessary to show it in this way, because it is to know that the two ends at the beginning and end are also allowed to be like that. The third is the way of circulation: afflictions produce afflictions, action is, from it arises the basis, from it arises the basis and afflictions, this is the law of the limbs of existence. Here, arising is the cause, and occurrence is considered the effect. It means that ignorance is the cause, and old age and death are the effect, is there or not? If there is, the fixed number of the twelve limbs will be reduced. If there is not, the cycle will have a beginning and an end. The answer is: there is, but the way to declare that the fixed number is not reduced is: afflictions produce afflictions, that is, craving produces grasping. Afflictions produce the karma of action, that is, grasping produces existence, and ignorance produces action. Karma produces the basis, that is, action produces consciousness, and existence produces birth. The basis produces the basis, that is, consciousness produces

Forms, etc., from birth come old age and death. From the base arise afflictions, and from feeling arises craving. Thus it is said that the links of existence arise in order, as taught by the Blessed One. Even so, the number of twelve links is not lost, nor does it become something with a beginning and an end, because cause and effect are mutually dependent, so the interdependence of the fruits of previous lives, and the interdependence of the causes of later lives. Moreover, the sutra says, 'arising in dependence' and also says 'arisen'. What is the difference between the two? Here, 'arising' refers to the nature of the interdependence of causes, because from it arises the interdependence of effects. 'Arisen' is considered to be the interdependence of effects, because it arises from the interdependence of causes. Secondly, according to the Sutra School, the nature of the four interdependent links in question, and the explanation that depends on further explanation, are taught. The first is the interdependence of ignorance, name, contact, and feeling. The first is: Qualities contrary to wisdom, other dharmas, Ignorance is like being unfriendly, false, etc. If it is important because of words like 'aggregate', etc., Then it is not inferior wisdom, because of view. Because view and those are coexistent, Wisdom is taught as an affliction. That is to say, the mental factor of delusion, which is directly opposed to wisdom and apprehension, is the characteristic of ignorance. It is not appropriate to establish ignorance as a mere negation of wisdom, because it is a different dharma that has become the opposite of that wisdom. Therefore, it should be explained there. For example, the opposite of a friend is an unfriendly thing, and the opposite of truth is a false thing, and so on, like non-dharma and non-meaning. Moreover, that is not reasonable, because the sutra says that ignorance is indicated by words such as aggregation, binding, subtlety, river, and combination, but mere negation of wisdom is not appropriate for those. If it is said that inferior wisdom is considered ignorance? It is not reasonable, because it is a view. It is pervasive, because view and ignorance are said to be coexistent, and because both wisdom and ignorance are shown to be afflictions and to cause afflictions. The latter is established, because the sutra says that the mind that is afflicted by attachment
