It is unlabelled and unobscured, because it is not afflictive and not labelled. It is called a sentient being because it relies on the mindstream with outflows. The intermediate state is not a sentient being, because the Treatise on Designations says, "The four types of birth encompass the five realms, but the five realms do not encompass those four; which is the intermediate existence?" Also, the Abhisamayalankara says, "There are seven existences: the existence of the five realms, the existence of karma, and the intermediate existence." Therefore, the basis of the human intermediate state is not a human sentient being, because it has not reached the human state of birth. Secondly, the seven abodes of consciousness are explained, the nine abodes of consciousness are explained, and the four abodes of consciousness are explained. The first is: "Body and perception different, body different and perception one, the reverse, body and perception one, the three formless ones, the seven abodes of consciousness and the remainder, the peak of existence that destroys them, and the unconscious beings." This means that there are seven abodes of consciousness: both body and perception are different, body is different and perception is one, the opposite of this is body is one and perception is different, both are one, and the first three formless realms, making seven in total. In order, the two gods and humans of the desire realm, and those other than the first born in the first dhyana, are called both body and perception are different, because the color and size of the body are different, and the perception is also because they each pursue the three feelings of pleasure, pain, and equanimity. Those who are first born in the first dhyana have different bodies and one perception, because the color and size of the body are different, and the perception is that we are protected by the Great Brahma, thinking that they are of the same kind. The beings in the second dhyana have one body and different perceptions, because the body is one of light, and the perception is that some are tired of pleasure and pursue equanimity, and some are tired of equanimity and pursue pleasure. The beings in the third dhyana have both body and perception as one, because the body is a body of light and the perception is one of pleasurable feeling. The remaining three lower realms are not abodes of the mind, because of suffering.
