The three uncontaminated powers are entirely without outflows, because they are the essence of the Noble Path. The seven physical powers and the ten, including life, painful feeling, and displeasure, are with outflows. The five faculties of faith, etc., pleasant feeling, joyful feeling, equanimity, and the mind faculty, the nine, have both with and without outflows. Second: Life is the maturation of twelve and two. The last eight and displeasure. Except for that. It is said that life is born of maturation. Some arhats do not have the power to abandon or take life. In response, there are two views: that life is pervaded by maturation and that it is not. First, when an arhat is about to die, he gives away all his possessions and says, "May it be the continuation of this life and the next." This is like abandoning life. Second, some arhats who have attained the highest level of the fourth meditation bless the elements, and at the same time, the life force that arises with them also increases. This is the view of the Sound School. The seven physical faculties, the other four feelings except for pleasant feeling, and the twelve, have both maturation and non-maturation. Finally, the eight pure faculties and displeasure are not maturation. Third: That one is: Ten with maturation, two kinds. That is to say, the displeasure just mentioned is the only one that is associated with maturation. The mind faculty, the other four feelings, and the five of faith, etc., these ten have both maturation and non-maturation. Second, the division from the perspective of three sets is divided into three types: the three of virtue, etc., the three realms, and the three of what is to be seen and abandoned, etc. The first is: Mind and other feelings, faith, etc. Eight virtues, displeasure. Two kinds of mind and other feelings. Three kinds, others are one kind. That is to say, the eight pure faculties are entirely virtuous. Displeasure has both virtue and non-virtue. The mind faculty, feeling, and the other four, these five have all three: virtue, non-virtue, and unspecified. Other than these, the seven physical faculties and the eight of the life faculty are entirely unspecified. Second: Except for the immaculate, all belong to the desire realm. Except for the male and female faculties and suffering.

"Those belonging to the form realm belong to the realm of form, and the feeling of pleasure does not belong to the formless realm." This means that, apart from the three undefiled faculties, nineteen belong to the desire realm. Above that, apart from the four: the male and female faculties, painful feeling, and unpleasant feeling, fifteen belong to the form realm. Above that, apart from the forms, the remaining eight belong to the formless realm. Third, mind and the three feelings have three categories. The object to be abandoned of the two is unpleasant feeling. Nine are abandoned by meditation, and five are neither to be abandoned nor both. This means that the mind faculty, pleasant feeling, joyful feeling, and neutral feeling all have aspects of what is to be abandoned by seeing, what is to be abandoned by meditation, and what is neither. Painful feeling and unpleasant feeling have aspects of what is to be abandoned by seeing and meditation. The seven form faculties, the life faculty, and painful feeling, these nine are abandoned by meditation. The five undefiled faiths and so on are not to be abandoned, but the five defiled ones are to be abandoned by meditation. The three undefiled ones are not to be abandoned. Second, regarding the manner of gaining and relinquishing, there are two ways: the manner of gaining faculties and the manner of relinquishing them. First, there are two perspectives: from the perspective of the desire realm and from the perspective of the higher realms. First, there are two perspectives: from the perspective of womb-born beings and from the perspective of miraculously born beings. The first is, "In the desire realm, the first two results are obtained." This means that in the desire realm, the life faculty, mind faculty, neutral feeling, and body faculty, these four are initially obtained simultaneously. However, from the perspective of beings born from karmic results, the life faculty and body faculty are obtained simultaneously, but the other two are not, because these two are definitely afflicted when connecting to the next life. The second is, "It is not so for miraculous birth, therefore six or seven or eight." This means that it is not so certain for miraculous birth, because there is no fixed characteristic for beings born from karmic results, and there are three possibilities: having any one, two, or both. First, the five faculties of the eye and so on, and the life faculty, these six are obtained simultaneously. Second, the above six and any one of the male or female faculties, one and seven are obtained simultaneously. Third, both the male and female faculties and eight are obtained simultaneously. Second, from the perspective of the higher realms, "In the form realm there are six, in the higher realm there is one." This means that in the form realm, the five faculties of the eye and so on, and the life faculty, these six are obtained simultaneously. Above that, in the formless realm, there is only one being born from karmic results, the life faculty.
