In these instances, the determination of what is needed for measurement is explained. The measure of the containers is 'dust is the most minute,' and so on. Here, the Chinese transliteration of 'minute dust' is 'Pa-ra-ma A-nu,' which means the peak of smallness or the ultimate. The Chinese transliteration of 'ske tshe' is 'Ra-dzi,' which is translated as 'sun dust.' So, what is the measure of the lifespan of sentient beings? The methods that need to be measured by humans have already been explained. Here, the lifespan of the gods and hell beings of the three realms needs to be measured by kalpas, so there are four: small kalpa, intermediate kalpa, superior kalpa, and great kalpa. The first is 'one yojana on all four sides,' and so on. The latter three are 'they sequentially multiply themselves by themselves,' and so on. Here, multiplying oneself by oneself, as the Great Commentary says, 'Similarly, its collection is an intermediate kalpa, and the collection of intermediate kalpas is a superior kalpa.' The meaning of 'collection,' for example, 'the collection of one is one, the collection of two is four,' and so on, until 'the collection of nine is eighty-one, and the collection of ten is one hundred.' Second, the object to be traversed and the agent of traversing are explained in detail, divided into three: a general explanation, a detailed explanation of how the sun's sphere moves, and an explanation of how time moves on the earth based on that. The first part is divided into two parts: explaining the constellations to be traversed and explaining the planets that are the agents of traversing. The first part is also divided into three parts: essence, meaning of the term, and mode of existence. First, after the formation of mandalas, mountains, continents, etc., from the black rays of light in the east arise countless stable and mobile winds that support the abodes of the gods such as planets. The Chinese transliteration of 'khyim' is 'Ra-shi,' which means collection or heap. Nevertheless, the most important of these are the twelve houses, which show the benefit and harm in the world, and because they are the nature of the twelve houses, wind wheels of various colors arise, shaped with twelve spokes, high in the center near Mount Meru, and gradually sloping at the edges, lower on the side near fire. Just as an umbrella is held up on top of Mount Meru, the form of ridges and valleys or high and low themselves, each travels on one path, not exceeding it, and rotates to the right. Auspicious

From the Tantras, it is said: "In the center, on top of Mount Sumeru, the wheel of constellations revolves day and night." Secondly, regarding the meaning of the term "sphere," and so on. Combining the roots of the words "guru (藏文,梵文天城体,guru, heavy)" and "laghu (藏文,梵文天城体,laghu, light)," it is translated as "heaviness and lightness" or "ridges and valleys." In the Vajra Dakini, it is said: "The wheel of ridges and valleys is spoken by you." Similarly, translating it as "inner" and "scope," etc., is also related to the meaning. However, the lexicon states: "The word 'go (藏文,梵文天城体,go,sound)' has nine meanings, including speech, direction, rays, eyes, livestock, Indra, heaven, and earth." Here, in the case of the sphere of the sky, it is good to translate "go" as heaven and "la" as holding, for what reason, etc. Similarly, apply them separately according to the specific situation. Therefore, in the case of the sphere of the earth, "go" should be translated as direction or earth, and "la" as revolving. Thirdly, regarding the positions of the constellations: Thus, after the rotating base of the wind wheel is formed, upon it, the yellow rays of the west, etc., the twenty-seven constellations arise simultaneously. Immediately after that, as it rotates to the right, in this small Jambudvipa, it first rises starting from Ashvini, therefore that day is considered the first day of the constellations. Most others say that the Pleiades are the first, as stated in the "Heart of the Sun Sutra": "Temporarily, first are the Pleiades, for the center of all the constellations, it should be placed as the first in the morning." Therefore, this is not absolutely certain. Then, how many stars are there in each constellation's range? "Ashvini, Bharani, the Pleiades..." and so on. In the Great Commentary, it is said: "One foot of Ashvini, Bharani, and the Pleiades is in Aries." etc., as stated, each constellation has two and a half stars. Since it has already been explained in the second chapter, it will not be elaborated here. The names and bases of these constellations are: Due to the division of the direction of Mount Sumeru, the four continents, i.e., the twelve parts, never change at any time. Secondly, explaining the ten planets that cause strife, in three parts: explaining their respective birth constellations, how they fight each other, and how they enjoy and revolve in the twelve constellations. First, compared to other directions, after the light of the people of the first kalpa has faded, the sun and moon appear in order.
