When setting out on a path, after joining your palms together towards the direction you are going, pay homage to the Three Jewels. When setting out on a path, inquiring about auspicious signs by writing letters on the palm of your hand: writing "sky" will prevent enemies from coming; writing "dragon" will bring gain; writing "tiger" will win in war; for seeking Dharma, write "deva"; then measure the distance of an arrow's flight from the house, and doing so will fulfill your wishes. ༈ Next, I will explain the obscuration of the planets. For the sun, fill a belly with water and draw a sun mandala on it, then raise it together with a pig's head to overcome. For the moon, fill a cloth bag with yellow earth, decorate it with a sheep's head and silk, and raise it. For Mars, fill a rat's brain and a rat's head with water and raise it to obscure. For Jupiter, raise a bull's head into the sky. Holding a sheep's head in your hand will obscure it. For Mercury, put a monkey's head and an iron arrow inside a bird's crop and a gau box to obscure it. For Venus, raise a snake's head into the sky. Capturing a camel's head will obscure it. For Saturn, decorate the head of a wild animal and a tiger skin with silk and raise it. When obscuring the malevolent Rahu, put the Eight Classes wheel and a Vajrapani image inside a goat's head, a donkey's head, and a yak horn to overcome the harm. The method for recognizing the planets when setting out on a path is: put the horn of sin inside the right horn of a bull, put it on the right side, and placing it on the right side of the path you are going will overcome the harm. ༈ Next, I will explain the method for obscuring the constellations. Lower region. Arranged in order are human heads, ears, and monkeys. The peacock's skull is shaped like a Capricorn. Bear and bull skulls are hung facing west. Like rats, fleshy skulls flutter in the wind. Mon Dre and Mon Dru of Mon (Bhutan), and upper and lower Chum, are arranged in the order of sky, boat, and stars. Skulls of horses and owls, and snakes of extinct lineage, as well as skulls of women of extinct lineage. The horse shape is hung facing north to obscure. Hanging any skull of a cuckoo, cow, or sheep in the northeast direction can prevent evil. ༈ On cremation days, offer ghee and white torma, and hang banners that match the rotating stars to obscure. ༈ The method to remedy the harm of Viṣṭi is: On the shape of a male wooden staff, use the root of female wood, with the tip not turned back. Starting from the east, on the four sides of the staff, draw in order the donkey's back, top, and three parts, a sword on the lion's back, a throwing spear on the tiger's back, and a Yungdrung symbol on the crow's back. Starting from the east, in the direction of the head, write in order A, Ka, Tsa, Tsa, Da, Ta, Pa, and Ya, Sha, the eight letters. Draw snake-shaped patterns on the four corners. Place relics on the head of the staff. This protects against the harm of dates and other Viṣṭi. ༈ The method to obscure the harm of empty vases is: In two precious vases, fill various grains and precious items.
