When the chamberlain lowered the seat cushion, someone said that it seemed to be detrimental to auspiciousness, so he inquired. He replied, "I will only be staying for this long, and it is comfortable this way now." Afterwards, during the New Year festival of the Wood Horse year (Tibetan calendar), he attended the Dharma assembly as usual. The old Geshes and the attendants of the Shabdrung family, as well as the new students who studied in their own locality, also offered Dharma assembly debates. He was pleased with this, saying that the direction of the scriptures and reasoning was good. On the second day, the seating arrangement in the Labrang was also arranged as usual. When assigning the responsibility of offering to the body in the morning and evening, he said, "This assignment given by the previous Gyalwa should be adorned with the robes of auspiciousness." On the third day, he bestowed the longevity empowerment and the empowerment of Gudrak to the people of Chakla and others. He initiated the instructions of the Heart Drop to the Khenpo of Tsile and the Uton steward and others. In the afternoon, when he went to the regular offering of the Gonkhang Sub, he played the musical instruments and personally recited the completion ritual. At the end, during the auspiciousness, he said, "The auspiciousness should be recited by the Khen Rinpoche or the elderly young child." This ritual was given to me, and I offered it as if offering it to the family Rinpoche, and then recited the auspiciousness. Afterwards, on the way to the Sang-ngak Phodrang, he sat in front of the line of tea and food of the monk Phuntsok. Because the recitation was low, everyone thought that he might be unwell. While they were guessing, he said, "It seems like I have a cold." On the fifth day, the younger brother of Shabdrung and the chamberlain said that he seemed to have a cold, and fearing contagion, they inquired whether it would be appropriate to postpone the originally scheduled consecration ceremony to around the fifteenth of the second month, after observing his physical condition. He replied, "The consecration ceremony should be held on time, prepare it there, and it will be auspicious. There is no need to postpone it because there will be obstacles." For this, the objects to be consecrated are the complete Gyalwa's Kangyur and the gilding of the Tengyur, which were newly built in the Water Dragon year. The large thangka of the Second Buddha of Orgyen, built in the Water Snake year, as well as the roof of the Labrang Tse, the eaves of the Kumbum, and many other important objects have been completed, and he intends to hold the consecration ceremony.

On the eleventh day of September, all of us, uncles and nephews, gathered together. The younger uncle (Jetsun) thought it would be good if the consecration ceremony could be completed this winter, so today, please observe the astrology, determine the time, and give us instructions. The master (Rinpoche) said that October is the time when the sun moves south, and November is not scheduled for the winter Dharma assembly. Holding it around the end of the year seems more appropriate. As you said, I and Shabdrung Rinpoche observed the astrology together and reported that the ninth day of the first month is the preparation for the consecration ceremony, and the tenth is the auspicious day for the formal ceremony. Rinpoche said that the Festival of Miracles (Tibetan New Year) and the tenth day, the day when the Dakinis gather, are well-timed, and considering that we have many relatives related to the world and disciples related to the Dharma, in order to minimize everyone's troubles, on that day, let the eldest son sit on my throne and serve as the master of the consecration ceremony, let the youngest son serve as the head of the ritual, and the three of us old fellows will just relax and watch the show this time. The younger uncle (Jetsun) said that in general, according to the prophecy of the treasure, it is appropriate for you, the elder Shabdrung Rinpoche, to ascend the throne, but now I am worried that your feet are not stable, which will affect your longevity, and in particular, all the monks and students will be disappointed, so it is not appropriate to hold the enthronement ceremony for the time being, and earnestly requested. After that, all of us present, because we did not know that this was a teaching for long-term consideration, requested in unison. Rinpoche said, then this time, let's do as you wish. On the morning of the eighth, the monk Rinchen Gangba of the monastery made a prayer for the long life of Shabdrung Rinpoche, and I performed the Smebrtsek bathing ritual and the Ka-abarma ransom ritual. On that day, when laying out the seats for the consecration ceremony, Rinpoche said that it would be difficult for us fathers, sons, and brothers to gather together like this in the future, so let the youngest son, Rinchen Namgyal, also participate in this Dharma assembly, so the seats were laid out. That night, the elderly Shabdrung Rinpoche went to the Tantric Palace to prepare the offerings for the consecration ceremony, and upon returning, the master (Rinpoche) himself was Samantabhadra.
