The residence was properly arranged. The uncle and nephew of Geteng Lama also came there as guests. The next day, after the monks and attendants who were going to circumambulate Samye Monastery (བསམ་ཡས་, Samye Monastery) set off, (they) also followed. They crossed the shallow waters of the Yarlung Tsangpo River (གཙང་ཆུ།), and used boats to ferry across the deep waters. Some of the powerful people who were circumambulating sat in the boats, and the venerable one (referring to the author himself) and others pulled the boats forward. When the boat reached the center of the river, a strong wind blew, and the boat was about to capsize. Everyone was terrified and called out the names of the lamas they relied on for refuge, and blamed each other. The venerable one thought, facing the threat of fear, even those who usually seek refuge with petty cleverness would generate such attachments and aversions. Due to the arising of strong compassion, the wind calmed down in an instant, and they safely reached the other shore. That night, they also paid homage to the blessed objects in Samye Monastery (བསམ་ཡས་, Samye Monastery), awakening many past habits. The next day, they continued on their way. Because they usually relied on riding horses and were not used to walking, the venerable one's feet felt pain, and he almost had to walk with crutches. At this time, (they) encountered the government officials' convoy passing through the Reda (རྒོད་དཀར།) pass, who came to welcome them. The driver happily greeted them, let them ride a good white horse without a saddle, and sent them to the bridgehead of Ngawo (སྔ་འགོ།), so the venerable one could rest. After that, they arrived at the foot of the mountain in the secluded place of Yamalung (གཡའ་མ་ལུང་།). The unbearable wind and rain were so violent that it seemed even the mountain was shaking, but the venerable one did not retreat because of it. That night, they stayed in the small hut of Zimpuk (གཟིམས་ཕུག). An old nun named Wawa (ལྦ་བ་ཅན།) offered food. That night, the venerable one did not dream, but spent the night in luminosity. Afterwards, on the eighth and ninth days, they performed prayers, sang offerings, torma offerings, and other rituals, and observed the signs of the treasure location. He was convinced that the broken rock above the south side of Tshechu Drak (ཚེ་ཆུ་བྲག) was the treasure location. However, because he could not find the mark on the treasure door—the Yungdrung (གཡུང་དྲུང་) pattern, he felt frustrated, thinking: Could it be that I cannot obtain it this time?
