Without clinging, I was immersed in various luminous and pure appearances, such as being blessed and prophesied by gods and lamas. All appearances during waking hours were also filled with wonder, laughter, and playfulness. Thus, time passed in the unceasing play of the unobstructed and spontaneously arising awareness of non-attachment. In the tenth month of the Hor calendar, I went to Chag Jangchubling Monastery. On the evening of the twenty-second, in a dream, a monk who seemed to be the great translator Vairotsana, named Wangpo Dulwa, with a beautiful and smiling face and wearing monastic robes, showed me an image of the great master Padmasambhava, in the style of an Indian pandit and made of crystal. He said, "This is the embodiment of all the blessings of Guru's body, speech, and mind." When I looked at it, the light was like the rays of the sun, unbearable to look at, and it was hot. I prayed with great faith, and he said, "This is the opening of the door of blessings. The actual blessing will be seen in the place of Brakmar." Upon waking, all arising appearances unceasingly manifested as the self-radiance of great bliss, burning unbearably with excellent experience. The next day, the twenty-third, I went with the attendant monk Yorden to the back of the upper chamber of Jangling Palace to refresh myself. There, in a small rock bird's nest on the right side of the transverse path, among a pile of tsatsas, were some torn religious papers. While slowly moving my hand, I found a pen case, about the thickness of a finger and four finger-widths long, with a roll inside. When I cut it open with a knife, a wonderful fragrance emanated, a scent of incense that could not be described by ordinary fragrances. Inside was a reddish-yellow paper roll, tightly bound at the waist with hair. The attendant monk said, "What is this? It smells so good!" I thought, could this be a part of a treasure? But he said, "It seems like an old, discarded amulet." Then, we went to the chamber and opened the roll on the roof of the upper floor. The roll was wrapped with about ten strands of hair, each about an elbow-length long. Inside was Guru's hair, about three finger-widths long, tied into a bundle and wrapped with a reddish-yellow paper roll, about a span high, on which words were written in fine, meticulous script. The words were about the empowerment of long life...
