Having returned and erected the bird shelter of the Labrang, he again ascended to Samye, where he suppressed the Hayagriva Isle through the means of Vajrakilaya. There, on the night of the seventeenth day of the tenth month, in a vision of clear light, upon hearing the sound of music resounding from the wondrously constructed palace in the sky, he beheld in the sky before him a rainbow tent resplendent, within which the center was as clear and pure as molten lapis lazuli, filled with immeasurable Buddhas and Bodhisattvas like a mass of sesame seeds, and beneath it, upon a rainbow like spokes, the sixteen noble elders, a line of detached Shravakas, slowly proceeding, and together with a rain of auspicious flowers, the sound of the uproar of reciting the auspiciousness of the Three Jewels, such as "Whatever sentient beings go or do not go," reverberated to the point of shaking heaven and earth, and even upon awakening from sleep, the fragrance and sounds remained vividly in his mind. For several days, effortless samadhi naturally increased, and he said that he realized many subsequent connections from this. After performing a week-long practice of averting and repelling impending disasters, on the twenty-ninth he cast the ransom effigy and returned to the monastery. On the eighteenth of December, according to the emperor's decree, he was carried by palanquin to the Great Potala Palace. Immediately, he met with the emperor alone, and on the twenty-fourth, he met with the Regent Tshewang Rabten at the Potala Palace, and from that day on, under the guise of offering to the entire upper and lower assembly, he offered to the Regent many empowerments and blessings of longevity vases, Hayagriva, Vajrakilaya, and so forth, as well as death ransom, liberation from curses, ablutions, and dispelling of defilements. In Lhasa, he also liberated the Regent from the demonic influence of the Nagas, and at the Potala Palace, he performed consecration ceremonies for many painted and embossed sacred objects for two days. Furthermore, at Drepung Monastery, he offered empowerments and blessings to his mother and siblings, and at Chuzang, to the estate officials. He gave guidance and support for practice to his mother and siblings, and bestowed the swift Vajrayana completion stage empowerment and the empowerment of liberation from samsara and emptiness to about twenty monks of Lamo Tse Monastery, and offered them to the upper echelons on the last day of the month of the Fire Ox year.
