In a place where there was a mound of Tsatsas (Tibetan: སཱཙྪ།), among some torn and tattered religious papers, while slowly rummaging through them, he found a pen case about the size of a finger and four finger-widths long. When he cut it open with a knife, it emitted a wonderful fragrance that could not be described by ordinary incense. Inside was a red and yellow paper scroll, tightly bound at the waist with hair. The attendant monk said, "What is this? It smells so good!" He wondered if it might be part of a treasure. But then he said, "It looks like an old, discarded amulet." Then he went to the sleeping quarters and opened the paper scroll in the loft on the upper floor. Inside, it was wrapped with about a fathom's length of hair, with about ten strands of hair wound around it. Inside was a red and yellow paper scroll wrapped around a bundle of Guru's hair, about three finger-lengths long, the scroll being about a span high, on which was written in neat, fine script: Homage to Tshewang Rigdzin Padmakara! Not long after that, he went to Ü-Tsang (present-day Lhasa area), because his mother was a self-born yogini, able to shake the power of blessings, he presented the paper scroll to his mother to see, and explained the whole story in detail. The mother, also possessing the power to sense hidden treasures in a way that was different from others, said, "This is indeed a catalog of hidden treasures, there is no doubt, it is truly amazing! However, for the time being, it must continue to be kept secret, and we must strive to pray and perform rituals. If signs of prophecy appear again, we must make every effort to bring about auspiciousness." That winter, I (referring to the author himself) was also surrounded by attendants, and spent nearly three months in retreat in the meditation hut, focusing single-mindedly on practice, and performing as many rituals as possible, such as fulfilling vows, confessing, and praying. Then, starting from the second month of the Water Rabbit year (1963), in order to build the external support of the master, preparations began to establish a factory, and there was constant activity in the Labrang (monastic institution).
