It seems that there is no record of him holding this dharani. When he was seventeen years old, on the tenth night of the ninth month of the Water Tiger year (1602), while he was staying in the meditation room of Daling Palace, he had a dream. In a delightful temple in Samye Chimpu, many Vidyadharas and Siddhas from both Tibet and China were seated in order, holding a Tsok offering. Around them were many beautifully adorned women, dancing and singing. He himself was sitting below the rows, watching with interest. At the head of the rows was a yogi with disheveled hair and a radiant face, who seemed to be the treasure revealer Dorje Lingpa. In front of him was a reddish-brown wooden vase with a slanting mouth and a long spout filled with essence. The yogi wiped a kapala bowl, white on the outside and red on the inside, with golden intertwined Dharma wheels and the letters of ha ri ni sa written on it, with a red silk cloth, and scooped something into it. A beautiful woman poured what seemed to be rice wine from the previous vase, white in color, shining with light and emitting a swooshing sound, filling it up. Another woman brought a large wooden bowl filled with various kinds of food. The yogis, in order, took a bite from the food and a sip from the kapala bowl, but the contents of the bowl did not decrease, remaining as before. When these things were offered to him, he tasted a little, and an unbearable bliss-emptiness wisdom blazed up. Finally, he thought, I will take it into a white container and possess it. At that moment, the previous yogi handed him a small reddish-yellow paper roll, saying it was the Geshe Lama's hat dharani. He began to recite it, only seeing three consecutive "E ma ho", the rest being in Chinese characters, which he could not decipher, but he held it in his hands with tears of devotion in his eyes. All the yogis left with a "Cho dir" sound. He himself also stepped out of the room onto a gray stone slab and woke up. Upon waking up, he was immersed in a flawless joy, his body and mind filled with this wonderful experience, which lasted for a long time. At that time, the signs in the dream were auspicious.

Though it seemed neither right nor wrong, it was not possible to contemplate with wisdom. Later, he thought like this: From the signs of this dream, it seems to indicate this matter. The place is that place, where the attainment is, a slight sign, is a sign of foreshadowing. The mandala of the assembly of yogis, is a sign of the blessing of the superiors. The lord of the assembly, the great yogi, is a sign of the inseparability of the lineage of wisdom. The excellence of the essence of food and drink vessels, is a sign of having the fortune of the great secret. The scroll of paper is given into the hand, is a sign of enjoying the profound treasure. The blessing of the crown and title, is a sign of being revered by the great virtues. The reading of the amazing letters, is a sign of the completeness of the fundamental dependent origination. The following text could not be understood, is a sign of the confusion of dependent origination by other powers. The sound of the cymbals resounds, is a sign of the clamor of benefiting sentient beings. Thus it was said. From then on, for a day or two, there was no sleep at night, but the Buddhas and Gurus blessed and showed prophecies, etc., immersed in various manifestations of light and purity. The manifestations when awake were also all wonderful, wanting to laugh and play, etc., the awareness without attachment, spontaneously and naturally, spent in the play without cessation. In the tenth month of the Tibetan calendar, he went to the monastery of Chakhyung Bodhiling, on the night of the twenty-second, in a dream, a monk named Wangpo Dulwa, who seemed to be the great translator Vairochana, with a dignified appearance, smiling, and wearing Dharma robes, showed an image of the great master Padmasambhava, dressed as an Indian Pandit, like made of crystal, saying, "This is the blessing of Guru's body, speech, and mind, all gathered together." Looking at it, the light was like the rays of the sun, unbearable to look at, burning hot. He prayed to it with great faith, saying, "This is the opening of the door of blessing, but the real blessing will be seen at the place of Red Rock." Thus he dreamed. When he woke up, all the phenomena that appeared, all manifested without cessation in the natural sound of great bliss, these wonderful experiences burned unbearably. The next day, the twenty-third, he went to the back of the upper part of the North Continent Palace, together with the attendant monk who possessed wealth, to relax his body and mind. On the right side of the transverse path, in the small bird's nest of the rock.
