Therefore, its basis is: "Such hearing, hearing is the best." As Nāgārjuna said: "The cause of increasing wisdom is hearing. If there are thinking and both, then from that arises meditation, and from that one obtains unsurpassed accomplishment." As it is said. Even so, this great being has attained a pure vision of all knowable things, so he does not need to rely on hearing as much as ordinary people do. However, in order to accomplish the eye-condition for those who have entered the teachings, he is not discouraged from seeking hearing. At that time, no matter how great the harm and hardship, he does not turn back or waver. Even though he has reached the other side of the ocean of scriptures and instructions, he does not have a sense of satisfaction, and he strives again. For example, the merchant of the city of Auspicious Birth, the son of the wealthy Ratnamati, went to all the southern regions to seek the Dharma; and like the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita, when seeking the Perfection of Wisdom, he sold his body and went to the city of Gandhavati to rely on the Bodhisattva Dharmodgata, etc. The great saints' lack of satisfaction with the sacred Dharma is the wonderful liberation of the great saints. Therefore, in the Ornament of Clear Realization, when explaining the complete training of the third ground, it is said: "And the nature of not being satisfied with hearing." Thus, the inconceivable categories of Dharma that were heard before will undoubtedly be heard again in the future. Moreover, abandoning the pride of high position and lineage, if he sees a source of Dharma that is rare and has a lineage, he respectfully listens without considering the high or low status of the place where he is listening. He does not accept or reject the unbiased teachings with a pure view. And he does not let the hearing remain only as a rough impression, but with the subtle and discriminating observation born of thought, he diligently strives to generate certainty. In short, although many teachings have disappeared due to the rise and fall of the teachings in the past, he cherishes the great armor of thinking that he will obtain all the teachings that exist now. Thus, he puts the application into practice, and the hearing is extensive and has a reliable source.

Each of their different views were thoroughly completed one by one without being mixed up, so it can be determined that it was the debate of hearing and thinking. Just like the dharmas that were known, they were also practiced and upheld from the aspect of acceptance and rejection, therefore the three, hearing, thinking, and meditating, were accomplished on the same seat. Not considering that just a part is enough, but correctly abiding in the holy dharma, he became an unsurpassed object of praise. As it is said in the Abhisamayalankara of the Holy Dharma: "How is it that dharma abides in dharma? Without relying on hearing and thinking, merely relying on the practice of meditation is not abiding in dharma; without relying on meditation, merely relying on the practice of hearing and thinking is not abiding in dharma; relying on both and abiding in both, then it is abiding in dharma." As it is widely said, he put it into practice, therefore he saw the meaning of the reality of suchness. All the dharmas of suchness were also clearly and unconfusedly understood in his mind, thereby wielding the dominion over the kingdom of dharma. How the one with good karma received the teachings of the profound treasure and how he took the practice to heart. Third, how the one with good karma received the teachings of the profound treasure and how he took the practice to heart: From a young age, he had a strong mind of renunciation and possessed immeasurable great compassion, wishing to save all impartial beings. Because of the unbearable devotion that arose towards the guru and the yidam deity as inseparable, in the intervals of hearing and thinking, either together with his father Sangdak Chenpo, or sometimes alone, he received empowerments and teachings, and analyzed the subtle points of the profound meaning. Apart from that, he mostly engaged in retreats. After his father passed away, he stayed in retreat in the bedroom of the Clear Light Peak and the meditation room for consecutive months or about a month at a time. Except for meal times, there was no fixed time for sessions, and he single-mindedly focused on the recitation of the sole yidam deity and guarding the reality. During those times, it seems that he also sporadically spoke of some wonderful signs and visions like rainbows, but he did not pay attention to remembering them.
