On the seventh day of the month, he traveled to Darling. Starting from the twelfth, he entered retreat, focusing single-mindedly on the practice of the two stages. At the beginning of the month, after completing the inner retreat, during the outer retreat, he gave profound instructions to his mother, uncle, and other fortunate individuals, and created two hundred thousand tsatsas containing the stainless dharani. In addition, he made many small images of Amitabha, Padmasambhava, and Tara, as well as large copper images of Shakyamuni Buddha, all by hand using medicinal clay. He adorned them with robes according to the suitability of gold, silver, and copper, and enshrined them as relics in the great stupa of one hundred thousand images. There, until the Saga Dawa (fourth month of the Tibetan calendar), he remained primarily in a state of unwavering practice. During breaks, he gave Dharma teachings to a small gathering of hermits, and in order to make offerings to the master, he consolidated the common land of Darling, and engaged in meaningful activities such as the wheel of action, before returning to the monastery. Later, starting from the end of the ninth month of the Earth Rat year, until the full moon of the twelfth month of the Earth Ox year, in order to avoid smallpox, he only greeted one or two important figures briefly, meeting them only through the door, and remained in retreat for more than a year. Primarily, he remained without deviating from the realization of Dzogchen, self-arisen and unobstructed. During meals, after breaking the silence, he bestowed many profound teachings, such as the oral transmission of the Dzogchen Semde, to the descendants of Shabdrung Rinpoche, his brothers, and his younger brother Jevon, along with a small group of close attendants, without interruption. Sometimes, in conjunction with visualization and other practices, he recited the mantras of many deities, and performed actions such as changing the mantras and mudras according to the specific activity. That year, many people in all regions were facing death due to smallpox. For those who requested refuge, he accepted their offerings as stupas, and after rewriting their names, he presented them sequentially, offering dedications and occasionally combining them to perform fire pujas for purification, attending to all objectives with compassionate eyes, thereby embracing them. Thereafter, he only occasionally visited the end-of-year assemblies, and nothing more.

Without even allowing a glimpse to anyone, high or low, and with all internal and external travel completely cut off, from the 7th to the 15th of the Black Month of the Iron Tiger year (Tibetan calendar), the master himself, along with his three sons, the incarnate Khenchen Wangpo, the incarnate Thangdrok, and about ten of us attendants, stayed in that secluded retreat place. Relying on the mandala of the Great Accomplishment Gathering of the Sugatas, we performed the extensive practice of the feast of nectar, reciting mantras in four sessions without interruption, and with great diligence. As a result, the medicine increased greatly, and its smell, taste, and color were excellent. The retreat room was radiant, and on the day of attaining accomplishment, a light rain fell from the rainbow clouds, which were all auspicious signs of accomplishment. Due to this blessing, the skin diseases in the vicinity disappeared as if a stream had been cut off. On the tenth day of the intercalary month, coinciding with the offering day, the external retreat was concluded. As mentioned earlier, in places like Drakmar Chimphu and Yamalung, which are secluded and wonderful places of great accomplishment, as well as the meditation chamber of Daling, the meditation cave of Osel Tse, Samten Tse, Tashi Choling of Lhodrak, the meditation chamber of Kunsang Yangtse in the main temple of Mindroling, the chamber of Immortal Light, and the meditation chamber of Kunsang Phodrang in Lharong Chokhor Lhunpo, we engaged in long-term retreats, six-month retreats, three-month retreats, and one-month retreats. We practiced the recitation and accomplishment of about thirty-five deities, including the peaceful and wrathful gurus, Vajrasattva, the Eight Herukas, Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara, Yangdak Heruka, Yamantaka, Hayagriva, Amitayus, Khechara, Vajrapani, Loktri, and Nagaraja. We focused on the practice of Trekchö of the Great Perfection, engaging in Tögal day and night yoga, and practicing breath control, according to the circumstances. We continuously practiced in our minds, and as a result, the generation stage of preventing impure appearances reached the ultimate clarity and stability, so that all phenomena were integrated into the pure and vast mandala of the victorious ones. Therefore, the four activities were accomplished without any hindrance. The movement of the channels, winds, and bindus of the completion stage were purified in the དྷཱུ་ཏིར་ (Sanskrit Devanagari: धूति, Sanskrit Romanization: dhūti, Chinese literal meaning: cleansing), so the wisdom of bliss blazed in all directions. The primordially pure ground
