A las A'o, etc., are the conditions for proving signs as signs. From the name arises that which is related to itself, another name, that is beneficial. Transforming a name into a name, that is beneficial. A'yi, etc., are the conditions for proving signs as stems. Si, etc., are the conditions for proving signs as words, there are seven in total. Among them, Si, etc., and Ti, etc., are both conditions and the basis of declension. The former distinguishes meanings by transforming names into words, and the latter distinguishes time and meanings by transforming stems into words. The third is transformation. Pang Lo said, "Connected with natural conditions, or merely connected with letters, transformation and distinction are variations." Therefore, the transformations and distinctions mentioned in Ming Le, Kun She, and Krir are variations related to natural conditions. The transformations and distinctions mentioned in Mtshams Sbyor are variations related only to letters. The scriptures that show them are: Indra Vyakarana, Vishali Vyakarana, Shakota Ya Vyakarana, Pāṇini Vyakarana, Sumanta Bhadra Vyakarana, Parañjale Vyakarana, Manujendra Vyakarana, which are said to be commentaries on Pāṇini. Among the scholars of both China and Tibet, the well-known ones are: Pāṇini Vyakarana, Jampal Gyivyakarana, Kalapa, Candra Pa, and Dbyangs Can Vyakarana. Except for Indra Vyakarana, the others have been translated into Tibetan. In particular, Ka-tsan, the two, are like the union of the sun and moon in dispelling the darkness of ignorance in the Land of Snows. Thus, there are four sources for how grammar arose: First, the way the Blessed One spoke was that the Teacher, the Buddha, at the time of explaining the third of the four individual correct knowledges—the explanation of terms—and in the Sutra of the Great Drum, also symbolically spoke of nature, conditions, transformations, etc., and their necessary names and components. The way the Bodhisattva spoke was that in the Great Commentary on the Kalachakra, it was mentioned that 'Jampal Gyis Rang Gi Lung Ston Pa Las Bris Pa,' which means the exposition of the Manjushri Vyakarana. It would be better if Pāṇini and Saraswati were also counted as spoken by the Blessed Ones. The former was spoken by the Blessed Avalokiteśvara to the Brahmin Pāṇini, and the latter was directly spoken by the Blessed Saraswati to Anubhuti.

So be it! Second, regarding the spread in the heavenly realm: In the Thirty-Three Heavens, there arose a scholar of grammar named Sarvajña (藏文:སརྦ་ཛྙཱ།,梵文天城体:सर्वज्ञ,梵文罗马拟音:sarvajña,汉语字面意思:All-Knowing), who composed a great treatise on grammar, which is said to have spread widely in the heavenly realm. Indra learned from him. He explained it to the grammarian Purbu, and Purbu was appointed as the teacher of the gods. At that time, Purbu was very arrogant, making it difficult for the gods to approach him. Indra then took a drop of water from a water pot with the tip of a kusha grass and said: The treatise on grammar is as vast as the ocean, what I know is like a pot of water, and what you know is like a drop of water. Purbu became discouraged and vowed not to teach grammar anymore. Indra commanded: Show what you know. In order to practice on his own, he observed the four periods and showed it to other gods, and thus he was known as a grammarian or the supreme teacher of the gods. Third, regarding the spread in India: Before Pāṇini's Vyākaraṇa (藏文:པཱ་ཎི་བྱཱ་ཀ་ར་ཎ་) appeared in the world, it is said that people only collected fragments of grammar and studied them, without compiling them into a complete treatise. Later, the Brahmin Pāṇini taught knowledge to all the grammarians on earth. In particular, he attained accomplishment by practicing the noble Avalokiteśvara. It is said that the noble one merely spoke of collecting letters, and he mastered all the knowledge of grammar in the three realms. Pāṇini's Vyākaraṇa (藏文:པཱ་ཎི་བྱཱ་ཀ་ར་ཎ་) is said to have two thousand five hundred verses. After that, the youth Kārtika showed the Kalāpa to the Brahmin Papta Varma, and the teacher Chandra Gomi, in order to explain the meaning of Pāṇini, composed the Chandra Vyākaraṇa (藏文:ཙནྡྲ་བྱཱ་ཀ་ར་ཎ་). After that, the goddess of grammar, contemporaneous with the Six Sages, spoke the Sarasvata Vyākaraṇa (藏文:དབྱངས་ཅན་བྱཱ་ཀ་ར་ཎ་) to Anubhuti. Fourth, regarding the translation in Tibet: Shong and Pang translated the Kātantra, Chökyong Sangpo translated the Mañjuśrī Vyākaraṇa (藏文:འཇམ་དཔལ་གྱི་བྱཱ་ཀ་ར་ཎ་), the later Jönang translator translated the Sarasvati, and Adarlo revised it and translated it based on Pāṇini.
