It is difficult to speak of and impossible to move, abiding in emptiness and not abandoning sentient beings, acting as spoken and possessing the blessings of the Sugata. The meaning of what is said is put into practice, namely, the view of abiding in emptiness, the compassion of not abandoning sentient beings, the bodhisattva's discipline of acting as spoken, and the blessings of the Sugata. This putting into practice is called Chö (gCod). What is cut? As the Abhidharmakosha says: Not abandoning subtle distractions, the place is near, from inappropriate attention, afflictions arise. As it is said, what is to be cut is affliction. These afflictions arise from subtle distractions, places, and inappropriate attention. Therefore, the yogi places the place near, takes its imprints, and with inappropriate attention as a guide, cuts off afflictions on the spot, hence it is called Chö (gCod). The key instructions for this, those transmitted from Dampa (Dharmapala) are called male Chö, and those transmitted from Machik (Labdrön) are called female Chö. In general, most of the key instructions and guidance methods that came to Tibet are mainly focused on causing disciples to turn away from negativity and thereby purify the afflictions in their mindstream. However, this Pacification Dharma immediately pacifies the sufferings of those who have become inferior in body in this life due to the karma of previous lives, as well as those who are sick, poor, and tormented by non-humans, and then combines them with yoga, hence it is called the Pacification of Suffering. As the Mother of the Buddhas also says: The mantra that completely pacifies all suffering. Thus it is said. Dampa Sangye (Dharmapala). The master of this Dharma is Dampa Sangye (Dharmapala), who was born in southern India as the son of a family of treasure takers named Armor of Diligence and a mother named Barasaha, who was skilled in offering to the Three Jewels and diligent in compounding incense. He was born with teeth. He was the seventh reincarnation, so he was without the stain of sin and naturally delighted in virtue. At Vikramashila, he received novice ordination from Khenpo Gewe Lha and became proficient in the excellent Vinaya. From the master Serlingpa (Suvarnadvipa), he generated the supreme Bodhicitta. He also attained the supreme siddhi, realizing the wisdom of the great path of seeing. How did he benefit beings in Tibet? In general, he went to Tibet five times. The first time, he went from Drintang Lesgo to Tsari. He cut off the area between Kongyul and Sumyul, and traversed the three regions of Lower Kham with his feet. Although there were no vessels for bestowing the Dharma at that time, he prophesied that the teachings would flourish in those places later. The second time, he came from Kashmir to Ngari. He gave some instructions to Shangshung Glingkhawa and Druk Lama. The third time, he came from Nepal accompanying merchants. He met Yara Lung's Yellow Beard and gave many Chö practice instructions.
