If even dust does not become a body, what need is there to mention the very weak?'. If someone thinks that even so, it is not certain for everyone, that is not so. In the 'Eliminating Sorrow Sutra', it says: 'On earth or in heaven, is there anyone born who has not died? Have you seen, heard, or doubted it?'. As it is said, because everyone who is born will eventually die. Therefore, one should remember this truth through many examples. The way is, in the 'Extensive Play Sutra', it says: 'The three realms are impermanent like autumn clouds, the birth and death of beings is like watching a dance, the life of a person is like lightning in the sky, flowing swiftly like a waterfall pouring down a cliff.' One should contemplate these meanings. Secondly, from the moment of the initial conception, without stopping for even a moment, one goes towards the Lord of Death. As the sutra says: 'The hero of men, on the first night, in which world he is conceived, from then on, day by day, without delay, goes towards the Lord of Death.' As it is said. If one thinks that this is not the case for those who have attained the accomplishment of longevity, such as Vidyadharas (རིག་འཛིན་, विद्याधर, Vidyādhara, Knowledge Holder), and therefore it is not certain for everyone, then those people are only a matter of time, and ultimately cannot transcend death. The 'Eliminating Sorrow Sutra' says: 'The great sages with five superknowledges, who can also travel far in the sky, there is no one who goes to the realm of the immortals.' As it is said, even the sages with superknowledges ultimately cannot transcend death. Moreover, even the emanation body of the Buddha shows the aspect of impermanence, what need is there to mention other beings driven by karma? As the sutra says: 'If even the body of the Buddha, the Vajra body adorned with marks and signs, is impermanent, what need is there to mention sentient beings like the pith of a water tree?' As it is said. Therefore, life driven by karma has no factors that increase it, but has factors that constantly decrease it, so it is certain to die. The 'Bodhicharyavatara' says: 'Day and night without stopping, this life is constantly being depleted, and there is no source of increase, how can I not die?' As it is said. Thirdly, if one thinks that death can be averted by means of mantras and medicines, that is not so. Because, when death comes, no condition can prevent it. The 'Sutra Admonishing the King' says: 'Great King, for example, precious jewels brought from the four directions, which are solid, stable, and have essence...'
