'Noble son, the mind of enlightenment is like the seed of all the Buddha's teachings.' Because it causes all the white dharmas of beings to increase, it is like a field. 'Because it burns all misdeeds, it is like the fire of the kalpa of destruction.' Because it exhausts all non-virtuous dharmas, it is like the earth below. 'Because it accomplishes all purposes, it is like the king of wish-fulfilling jewels.' Because it perfects all thoughts, it is like a good vase. 'Because it extracts what flows in the water of samsara, it is like a hook.' It is like a stupa of the world with gods, humans, and asuras. In short, all the Buddha's teachings and all the Buddha's qualities, as many as there are, so many are the qualities and benefits of the mind of enlightenment.' Why is that? Because all the mandalas of the conduct of Bodhisattvas arise from this, and all the Bodhisattvas who have appeared in the past, future, and present are also born from this.' And so on, it is extensively taught. Similarly, in the *Madhyamaka-hrdaya* it is said: 'Love and compassion, adorned with great wisdom, the seed of the Buddha, the mind of enlightenment, therefore the wise do not abandon it.' The nature of generating the mind is also from the *Abhisamayalankara*: 'The generation of the mind is for the sake of others, desiring perfect and complete enlightenment.' As it is, the purpose is to seek complete enlightenment for the benefit of others, along with the corresponding thought. Although there are many divisions of this, what is relevant here is the conventional mind generation, which is mainly the aspiration mind. There are also mind generations like a king, mind generations like a ferryman, and mind generations like a shepherd. Here, what is to be meditated upon is the latter, because this is the great mind generation that first abandons oneself and desires to place others in the state of Buddhahood. Thus, in the *Dharma Samuccaya* it says: 'Bhagavan, the Bodhisattva initially aspires that all sentient beings attain enlightenment, but not himself.' How then to meditate on it? Thinking that limitless beings who have been our mothers are sinking in the ocean of suffering, while oneself seeking only peace is shameless. As it says in the *Letter of Encouragement*: 'Relatives are caught in the ocean of samsara, appearing as if fallen into a bottomless abyss, the cycle of birth and death is full of suffering.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is like saying, 'If one abandons what one does not know, and if one is liberated, there is no shame in that.' Therefore, in the 'Precious Garland' it says: 'As long as there is a sentient being, wherever they are not liberated, for that reason, even if one attains the unsurpassed Bodhi, may one remain in samsara.' Like this, even for the sake of one sentient being, one can abandon one's own Bodhi and remain, one should have the noble intention to be able to bear the burden of accomplishing the benefit of others. As it is said in the 'Secret Sutra of the Tathagata': 'Bhagavan, who has generated the mind of Bodhi?' The Buddha replied: 'Great King, whose supreme intention is unwavering.' Then, there are many other things to be accomplished for the benefit of others, and in general, whatever is appropriate should be accomplished, but from the ultimate point of view, merely high status is not stable and does not transcend suffering, and the inferior Bodhi does not perfect one's own benefit and does not accomplish the benefit of others. Ultimately, one must enter the Great Vehicle, and even then, due to the influence of being accustomed to the inferior path, realization is slow, and there are many faults, so it is not the main object to be accomplished. Therefore, having abandoned all the two obscurations and abiding in the state of the two Kayas, the two benefits are spontaneously accomplished, only the Buddha can do this. How wonderful it would be if all sentient beings could attain the precious state of perfect Buddhahood! May they attain it! They must attain it! May they attain it, Lama Konchog Khyen! (Teachers, Buddhas, Dharma, please be aware)' Thus, the three doors of body, speech, and mind should be unified. Then, for that purpose, visualize that the cause of all sentient beings—afflictions, the result—suffering, the stains of the two obscurations, in short, all that hinders the attainment of higher realms, liberation, and omniscience, together with their seeds and habitual tendencies, may they ripen on my being.' Like this, through various doors, various aspects, and various methods, one should meditate on taking on these sufferings. Meditate on those objects being free from all faults and endowed with all perfections, and count the number of sessions. Even meditating once on such a mind of Bodhi is said to generate immeasurable merit, as it is said in the 'Request of Glorious Giving': 'The merit of the mind of Bodhi, if it had a form, filling all of space, it would be even greater than that.' 'If someone were to fill Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of the Ganges with jewels, the Lord of the World' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
