The Great Crying Hell is: As described before, there are two houses arranged in sequence. The feeling of heat is: the hell guards pierce with a single spear tip from the anus all the way to the crown of the head, piercing it through into ashes, causing suffering. The feeling of extreme heat is: Piercing with three spear tips from the anus to the crown of the head, and from the left and right buttocks to the left and right shoulders, piercing it through into ashes, causing suffering. The Avici Hell is: on a ground of molten iron, burned by fire, without distinguishing 'this is fire, this is body,' completely merged together and burned, only inferring from the sound of wailing that there is a hell being here. The third category of hells is divided into four. First, the pit of burning embers is located at the end of the eight hot hells. In the pit filled with burning embers, the body sinks into it, and all limbs are burned. When the right foot is lifted, the burned part slightly recovers, but the left foot is burned; when the left foot is lifted, it recovers slightly, but the right foot is burned. The internal intestines and organs are also burned, and smoke emanates from all sensory gates. Second, the swamp of rotting corpses: in a swamp filled with impure substances such as excrement, lying face up or face down, all sensory gates are filled with impure substances, causing suffering. The iron worms and other creatures in the swamp bite all parts of the body, down to the bones, cutting the body, causing extreme suffering. Third, the path of razor blades: after emerging from the swamp of rotting corpses, walking on a plain covered with extremely sharp razor blades, the feet are cut, down to the bones, causing suffering. And so on, there is also the forest of sword leaves, where all the branches of the trees are transformed into weapons such as swords. Driven by karma, seeking refuge from the heat, when approaching the forest, the wind blows the trees, and the weapons cut all limbs into pieces, causing extreme suffering. The Shalmalai tree: thinking of climbing to the top of an extremely high mountain, but iron spikes (藏文:ལྕགས་ཀྱི་ཐུར་མ་,梵文天城体:शंकु,梵文罗马拟音:śaṅku,汉语字面意思:尖桩) eight or sixteen fingers long, pointing downwards, pierce the body, causing suffering. Upon reaching the top of the mountain, the eyes, tongue, brain, etc., are gouged out by the mouth and anus, causing suffering. When thinking of returning to the foot of the mountain, running downwards, the iron spikes point upwards, piercing the body. The iron at the foot of the mountain... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jackals, dogs, and foxes eat limbs and tear at each other, cutting the body into pieces, causing suffering. Furthermore, the suffering of having one's body impaled on stakes on a burning iron ground, and one's tongue pierced with iron nails and plowed, is also part of the Neighborhood Hells. The fourth is the Immeasurable River of Ashes: beyond the Razor Plain, the body is submerged in ashes, the inside and outside of the body are burned, and the hell guards protect it from all sides, causing suffering. Thinking about these sufferings, and in order to be liberated from them, one must practice the Dharma, and one should meditate on this repeatedly. Second, contemplate the suffering of the pretas (hungry ghosts), which are of three types: those with external obscurations, those with internal obscurations, and those with obscurations of food and drink, or those obscured by obscurations. The first is: due to miserliness and other non-virtues, one is born in the realm of pretas. Although tormented by hunger and thirst, one cannot even see food or drink. Thinking that there are mountains of rice and large bodies of water in the distance, one goes there, enduring physical and mental suffering from the long journey. Upon arriving there, what appeared to be a mountain of rice turns into white stones or a pile of white earth. What was previously seen as a body of water becomes a mirage or blue earth, or saltpeter, etc., making it impossible to eat or drink, causing even greater suffering than before. The internal obscuration is: on top of the previous suffering, even if one eats a little food, at first the mouth is as narrow as the eye of a needle, making it impossible to swallow, causing the mouth to crack and bleed, causing suffering. Then the throat is as thin as a horse's tail, making it impossible to swallow, and the food becomes rough, causing the throat to be torn and burned. Even if a small amount of food reaches the stomach, which is as large as a mountain, it has no power to satisfy hunger or quench thirst, causing suffering again. The obscuration of food and drink is: when going in all directions to find food, one is beaten and frightened by other preta leaders, causing suffering. If one finds a little food, one fears that it will be stolen by others. Even if one eats it, it is impossible to swallow as before, causing suffering. Even if it enters the stomach, due to the power of karma, the food turns into flames, burning all the intestines and bowels, turning them into ashes, causing suffering. Although one suffers so much, one must continue to endure until the karma is exhausted. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
