It is intolerable. Especially for a person practicing Lojong (mind training), it is not appropriate to be a Dharma practitioner if they engage in harsh arguments using 'you'. Especially for a person practicing Lojong, using harsh words like 'you' in arguments contradicts Tonglen (giving and taking) and should not be done. When one is not at fault and others are, following the harsh argument, one's own afflictions follow, and like a long-beaked chisel, digging out the faults of others from the depths of their bones should not be done. It is important that we, in various places, do not engage in repulsive, harsh arguments like those with necks stretched out. 1-447 To avoid such repulsive arguments, the following is necessary: Do not suppress emotions. This is a hypothesis and can be discussed. Other situations may also arise involuntarily. If one does not restrain oneself once, it becomes a habit of restraining. If one restrains, the desire to restrain increases. If there is no opportunity now, one will not take it. Suppressing emotions over minor matters is like me getting angry over trivial things. Do not act as if saying, 'Do as that says' today. Whatever one does, lowering oneself in situations where there is much harm, enduring harsh words, etc., is beneficial. Do not retaliate with harsh words, and do not suppress the emotions of the mind. Now that Dharma practice has not deepened, the power of patience is small. If emotions are completely suppressed, they become rigid, and Dharma practice becomes meaningless, so one should strive to counteract self-grasping. Like the great yogi said, 'Fly high, sink low into the water.' Without this, it is like having no roots, and Lojong cannot be accomplished. At all times, one needs a sense of satisfaction from the depths of one's heart. If this happens, it is the life force of Dharma, and other Lojong practices will naturally come. Without this, it is impossible to avoid repulsive arguments. No matter who one associates with, one will feel uncomfortable, so suppressing emotions, swallowing both good and bad, and remaining silent is necessary. 1-448 If it is not like this, the four roots of black Dharma will be severed: abandoning sentient beings, breaking the vows of refuge, and cutting off the four practices that have been done. This leads to the breaking of vows between teacher and student, disharmony in the family, and the inability to find friends. Therefore, it is necessary to always avoid this. Do not suppress emotions because of the quality of tea or the goodness of the seat. There are also situations where it is necessary to suppress emotions. If something arises that harms the liberation of Rateng Monastery, suppress emotions. Even suppressing is necessary. Because his liberation is common with householders, not engaging in the four occupations such as agriculture, not drinking alcohol even when facing death, and not abandoning all ten Dharma practices, etc., if one violates these, suppress emotions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A commitment is needed. Is this also necessary? Don't make a big fuss. This means that if one's own help to others is reciprocated, that's good. People like you won't appear. If there is no reciprocation, even if I put in so much effort, nothing comes out. Don't think that there is no giving to people. This is also because of impermanence, so don't do things that are fleeting. This means, what to do for a while? What to do won't happen for a while. Some people pretend to be doing, and then abandon it as if they are bored. When associating with people, don't easily be friendly or quarrelsome. Like the string of a good bow, maintain tension without getting tired. Also, when the time is right, don't retaliate. Don't wait for an opportunity. For example, when Stonpa Darmapa was flourishing, someone said to collect taxes from Lhozhagpa. Darma Rinchen said, 'Give me a stone that doesn't suit my color.' Also, a Phanyulba went to steal in a place in Gnyal and was squeezed in the doorway by a monk. Later, in a place with many people in Phanyul, that monk appeared. That person, harboring resentment for being squeezed in the doorway before, pretended to recognize him and belittled the monk. That is what is called waiting for an opportunity. When generating Bodhicitta and practicing mind training, there is no time to think about these things. As long as these exist, those two cannot exist. So, if others have done bad things to you, don't hold the unavenged grudge in your heart, and retaliate when the opportunity arises. Don't pass your own mistakes on to others. Don't put the mule's burden on the ox. This means that because you are afraid that unpleasant things will happen to yourself, you push it to others, and it is impossible to train the mind by doing so. This is not something that everyone can do, but it is to overcome it with antidotes. When Kawa was at the logic college, his friend Stonpa Zadrag made a bed on the landlord's house, and a stone fell from the window, falling on the porcelain bowl below, breaking the bowl, and concealing the matter. He said that if it hit someone else, it would cause great misfortune. So, don't transfer breaking utensils and doing wrong to others. Don't pass on work, etc. to others. Don't just think about getting what you want most. Putting desire first only exists in bad people. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
