Regarding greatness, ominous places, foul smells, the possibility of uncleanliness, bad dreams, bad omens, curses from others, demonic influences, and all such possibilities, take upon oneself all the suffering of all sentient beings. Even having taken them, do not expect any benefit for oneself. Then, contemplate taking all the cliffs, ravines, thorns, and bad places of the external world, and transform them through practice. Contemplate taking all unpleasant forms, unpleasant sounds, unpleasant smells, and so forth, and transform them into pleasant forms, and so forth. In short, except for the Buddhas and Lamas, take all the faults of the external world and internal beings. Buddhas have abandoned all faults and perfected all qualities. As for the Lama, although there is actually nothing to take, in the eyes of us ordinary people, the Lama may appear old and frail. Is it permissible to take these? Someone asked. The answer is: One should not think like that. Because from any perspective, the Lama is no different from the Buddha, so it is not permissible to take. The above is the explanation of taking. Now, without giving, the accumulation of merit cannot be completed. Giving is more important than taking. Generally speaking: 'My body, possessions, and all the virtues accumulated in the three times, I give without reservation for the sake of accomplishing the benefit of all sentient beings.' By giving these three, and the Bodhicitta of exchanging self and others, going to hell for the benefit of sentient beings, these are mentioned in other Dharma teachings as well, but the focus here is on how to practice, and what to contemplate during practice, and so on. There is nothing else besides this. Now, at the time of giving, by giving the body, possessions, and three roots of virtue, contemplate that you have all the causes and conditions for attaining Buddhahood, and ultimately attain Buddhahood. When giving the body, the body that has passed away cannot be given, only the present body and the future bodies that may be obtained can be given. There are three prohibitions regarding this: contemplating a deity and giving, giving flesh and blood, and thinking that giving will lead to exhaustion. The first, contemplating a deity and giving, leads to disrespect towards the deity, and may even lead to breaking the root vows. The best way is to regard everything as the deity, and contemplate merging into the deity, so there is no fault. The second, some people want to eat meat and take (the corpse), etc., which is also not permissible, because it is meaningless, and some people will be displeased by it. It is also not permissible to turn (the corpse) into poison or weapons, etc., because it will harm sentient beings. Unless the flesh and blood, weapons, and poison themselves can become the cause of benefit and happiness, it should not be done. Then, how should one give? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alternatively, in the 'Tree Adornment Chapter' of the Avatamsaka Sutra, it says: 'Transforming oneself into a wish-fulfilling body that sustains all beings.' Or, in the 'Dedication of the Vajra Banner,' it says: 'The four great elements, through various doors, various ways, and various names, benefit all sentient beings; similarly, may the Bodhisattva transform his own body into a basis for the sustenance of sentient beings.' Or, as stated in the 'Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life': 'To accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings, I transform myself into a wish-fulfilling body.' Like this, giving by transforming oneself into a wish-fulfilling body. Considering one's own body, possessions, and virtues as wish-fulfilling jewels, one need not contemplate their color or shape, but rather that they produce whatever is needed and desired. The order of giving is first to visualize the root guru in front and give to him, thinking that this will be the cause for the guru's enlightenment, such as faith, diligence, wisdom, and bodhicitta, and the conditions that cause these to arise simultaneously, such as virtuous friends, scriptures, internal and external favorable conditions, food, clothing, etc., fulfilling whatever is needed, thus thinking of the guru becoming a Buddha. Similarly, from the father and so on, to all sentient beings pervading the ends of space, and the three lower realms, Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and even the Bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis, giving in the same way, thinking that they will become Buddhas as mentioned before. Furthermore, just as whatever is desired, such as food and clothing, arises from a wish-fulfilling jewel, think that from one's own body, all sentient beings pervading the ends of space can obtain food, clothing, shelter, land, relatives, attendants, vehicles, and all worldly happiness, as well as teachers, preceptors, scriptures, and all the causes and results of happiness beyond the world, such as faith and discipline. Moreover, just as a wish-fulfilling jewel is used by a Chakravartin king to accomplish the benefit of many sentient beings, likewise, think that one's own body is present before each sentient being, and as before, whatever they need arises, thus leading them to Buddhahood. Alternatively, decompose one's body into elements such as earth and water, and let them be present before each sentient being, as before. Sometimes it is given as a whole form, and sometimes it is dissected into parts such as the head. Or, taking all the suffering and bad omens as before, by giving the body, think that they obtain happiness and good omens, and so on. By training the mind in this way, like cutting off a demon, it will not be in vain, and it will immediately... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
