Therefore, make it submit. Even if countless eons have passed, you still, with such great effort, only accomplish suffering.’ Therefore, before regarding it as an enemy, it only accomplishes its own comfort, thereby accumulating bad karma, causing suffering in endless samsara to be more intense and prolonged than before, and wandering aimlessly. Therefore, cherishing all the sufferings of the three times as precious is generated by it. So, isn't this thing that has been acting as my executioner since beginningless time, haven't all the deaths I've suffered since beginningless samsara been caused by myself? One should think like this. Do not contradict, but make a transformation and treat it as your enemy. So, where does this enemy reside? It resides in my heart. Shantideva also said: 'Having been an enemy for so long, constantly, the sole cause of increasing all harm, it surely dwells in my heart, how could I have happiness in samsara?' So he said. Even if it dwells on the head, do not let victory enter the eyes. One should think like this, and recognize that the object or dwelling of this self-grasping, which has faults, is this body where it is born. From beginningless time, grasping at the selfless as self, grasping at the non-self as self, and being the source of all suffering. Cherishing and guarding this corpse, black husk, fragments of pus and blood, bag of serous fluid, is like carrying a load of thorns naked. If you loosen it, you will be comfortable, but if you bind it for your own benefit, thinking that you will get some comfort, it will only lead to more suffering. Shantideva also said: 'All the sufferings in the world come from wanting happiness for oneself; all the happiness in the world comes from wanting happiness for others.' What need is there to say more? Look at the difference between a child who only thinks of himself and the Buddha who works for others!' Therefore, among all the afflictions that have only brought harm to me since beginningless time, the most fundamental is self-grasping. That virtuous friend said: 'From lice to all beings, that envious one who accumulates sins dwells here. It binds me, not letting me be liberated from samsara, it summons all the harm-doers of humans and non-humans, that owl-headed one who brings destruction, is the one who clings to me and mine, only seeking benefit for himself.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here, thinking that you are staying here, you should recognize the enemy as the enemy. As Shantideva said: 'This (self-grasping) has harmed me in samsara for hundreds of kalpas. Now, remembering all the grudges, destroy your thought of thinking for yourself.' If you still don't think it's enough to relieve your hatred, it's not the same as before. This time, I relied on the lama and studied the sutras, so I know you are the enemy! The days when you could destroy me are gone. Now that you see me, where can you go? I will destroy all your arrogance!' Thinking like this, take (self-grasping) as the enemy, and once the thought of thinking for yourself arises, hit it as if you are sure of it. Therefore, the essence of Mahayana Buddhism is to completely let go of attachment to the self, wholeheartedly care for sentient beings, and only consider what is beneficial to sentient beings and what is harmful to 'self-grasping'. In addition, all the Buddha's teachings and treatises are spoken for the purpose of subduing afflictions. Therefore, what needs to be subdued is affliction. There are a total of eighty-four thousand kinds of afflictions. If they are summarized, there are two hundred and twelve kinds. Further summarized, there are six root afflictions and twenty secondary afflictions. Further summarized, there are the five poisons (藏文:དུག་ལྔ,梵文天城体:पंच विष,梵文罗马拟音:pañca viṣa,汉语字面意思:five poisons) and the three poisons (藏文:དུག་གསུམ,梵文天城体:त्रि विष,梵文罗马拟音:tri viṣa,汉语字面意思:three poisons). If summarized again, only attachment to the self remains. Therefore, the more you can subdue it, the happier you will be. The more you subdue, the more happiness; the less you subdue, the less happiness; if you don't subdue at all, there will be no happiness. The root of suffering is self-grasping. All faults and sins depend on it. Therefore, now you must let go of attachment to your body and mind and treat them as enemies. Among them, the most important thing is to let go of attachment to the body. Shantideva said: 'For the body to which I am attached, fear arises even in small places of fear. For this body that gives rise to fear, who would not hate it like an enemy?' From beginningless time, how much effort has been made for this body, but the essence of the body is an inanimate object, and there is no joy or anger in benefit or harm. And the mind, which is originally empty, and the mundane phenomena that appear now are also born from causes and conditions, without self-nature, and the cause and effect arise and cease in an instant, and do not stay. Therefore, thinking that I used to oppose it in vain, now I must treat it as an enemy, recite mantras, dispel the eight classes of gods and demons of the world and the eighty thousand kinds of obstacles, and pray for them to help me destroy self-grasping, and may my five aggregates (藏文:ཕུང་པོ་ལྔ,梵文天城体:पंच स्कंध,梵文罗马拟音:pañca skandha,汉语字面意思:five aggregates) not be real. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
