Now, without losing the experience of meditation, abide in the state of great union. ' Thus it is said, all these practices, do not be defiled by clinging to reality, carry the great emptiness like the sky, and go into the state of immortal great bliss. ' Thus, the practice of these meanings, along with its benefits, is explained. Second, the conventional Bodhicitta (enlightenment mind) shows the exchange of self and others: This was said by Shantideva (peaceful god): 'Whoever wishes to quickly protect themselves and others, should practice the secret and sacred practice of exchanging self and others. ' 'If one does not properly exchange one's own happiness and the suffering of others, one will not achieve Buddhahood, and there will be no happiness even in Samsara (cyclic existence). ' 'Therefore, in order to pacify one's own harm and the suffering of others, one should give oneself to others, and protect others as oneself. ' This also has two parts: meditative equipoise and post-meditation. The practice in meditative equipoise is shown by 'Practice giving and taking alternately': Sit comfortably on a seat, clearly visualize the loving mother in front, and first meditate on loving-kindness and compassion: 'This mother initially gave me the leisure and endowment body, raised me without wasting it, allowed me to encounter the Buddha's teachings, and started me on the path of happiness, thus benefiting me. During the time in the womb and after birth, she raised me when she was powerless, thus benefiting me. Not only that, but from beginningless Samsara (cyclic existence), she has been looking at me with loving eyes, holding me with a loving heart, saving me from harm and disadvantage, and helping me with all benefits and happiness, she is a benefactor! ' Thinking like this, until tears flow from the eyes or goosebumps rise on the body, generate a feeling of closeness. 'This mother who has become a benefactor, is now wandering in endless Samsara (cyclic existence) doing things for my sake, suffering various kinds of suffering, how pitiful! ' Generate an unbearable feeling of compassion, thinking: 'Now I will repay her with all benefits and happiness, and save her from all harm and disadvantage. ' Then, what harms the old mother? Suffering directly harms her, and afflictions indirectly harm her. I am willing to take all of these upon myself. ' Thinking like this, take all the suffering, the origin of suffering, the afflictions, the obscurations of knowledge, and the habitual tendencies in the mother's continuum, as if scraping them with a knife, take them from the mother's continuum and place them into your own heart, this is Bodhi (enlightenment). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the practice of taking the mind of enlightenment. Thinking, 'I will accomplish all the happiness of my mother.' Then, without any hesitation, offer your own body, possessions, and merits entirely to your mother. As it says in 'Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life': 'For the sake of accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings, may I transform this body into a wish-fulfilling jewel.' The meaning is to regard your own body, possessions, and merits as precious jewels, and with these, provide your mother with resources that accord with the Dharma, such as food, shelter, servants, attendants, and reliance on a lama, etc. Whatever conditions are needed to accomplish enlightenment should be provided. Thinking that by relying on these, your mother will complete the accumulations and ultimately attain Buddhahood. This is the practice of giving away the mind of enlightenment. Thus, with love and compassion as a precursor, alternately engage in the practice of giving and taking, and through this, moisten and increase your wisdom. Through such training, you can abandon the suffering of your former mother, and in accomplishing happiness, you can truly exchange, not just in words, and thus reach the level of practice. If you cannot substitute for your mother's birth in hell, at least reach the point where you can jump into the fire without hesitation. Then, in the second session, with love and compassion preceding all sentient beings, think like this: 'When I generated the mind of enlightenment, I gave away my possessions and merits to all sentient beings. I have promised and taken on the responsibility of accomplishing the benefit of all sentient beings alone. Now I must truly do that.' Thinking thus, like before, alternately engage in the practice of giving and taking with all sentient beings. In this case, giving means thinking that each sentient being receives a complete body, possessions, and merits. Thus, without hesitation, generously give everything to all sentient beings. Thinking, 'Whoever wants it, take it! You can use them as you wish!' Regard yourself as a medicinal tree, let go of all joys and sorrows, practice repeatedly in your mind, and also recite it in your speech. I completely give away my body, possessions, and merits, may they become food and drink for all sentient beings, clothes for the naked, and shelter for the homeless. May I become the cause of all happiness in the cycle of existence and nirvana for all sentient beings, the cause of dispelling all suffering, and may all the qualities of the path and fruition of all sentient beings arise dependent on me.' Practice in this way. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
