Thinking that these Dharmas are propagated for the sake of increasing (awareness), Thinking that obtaining leisure and endowment is meaningful, and that Dharma should be practiced in order not to waste it. Thinking that the supreme Dharma among Dharmas is also this. Even if leisure and endowment are obtained, there is no guarantee of life. Because one will experience happiness and suffering from virtue and non-virtue in the future, the supreme virtue among virtuous actions is also this. There is no path deeper than this to liberate from samsara. Thinking that the supreme cause for attaining Buddhahood for the benefit of oneself and others is also this, think in this way. Moreover, for those who wish to practice mind training, it is not necessary to practice in all situations, but even when one does not want to practice, one should contemplate. Second, training the two aspects of Bodhicitta, ultimate and conventional. Second, training the two aspects of Bodhicitta, ultimate and conventional. From the two aspects of ultimate and conventional, it is taught in this way in the continuum of one person, in the order of common and specific. First, training ultimate Bodhicitta has two stages: Shamatha-Vipassana and post-meditation. Shamatha-Vipassana has three stages: preliminary, main practice, and concluding practice. The preliminary practice is to perform the seven-branch offering in the shrine. Pray to the deity and the Guru. In the meditation room, sit in the lotus position on a comfortable cushion. Exhale, count twenty-one inhalations. This makes the three doors of body, speech, and mind suitable as vessels for meditation. Then, one must first distinguish it by the merits possessed by the Samadhi of conventional Bodhicitta. The main practice is: Because this is a method of entering everything simultaneously, even if one meditates on emptiness of oneself and others simultaneously, one must calculate according to the order of discriminating wisdom during the preliminary practice. (Atisha) said: 'This has the necessity of sprouting the seed of realization from the moisture of Shamatha-Vipassana.' Then, first meditate on the apprehended object as being without inherent existence, as taught in the Eight Verses on Mind Training: 'All phenomena are like dreams.' Thus, all of this appearing outer and inner world of beings and environment is merely an illusion of one's own mind, and apart from the mind, there is not even a particle of truly existent thing. Observing in this way, even on the conventional level, there is nothing that can be established as a truly existent entity, so think in this way. Then, meditate on the apprehending mind as being without inherent existence, as taught in the Eight Verses on Mind Training: 'Examine the nature of unborn awareness.' Thus, the mind that makes the object empty of inherent existence is also past ceased, future unborn, and the present has three parts, no color, no shape, and no place to abide in the parts of the body. Observing in this way, it is separate from all grasping, and is originally unborn, so think in this way. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Think in this way. Then, meditate on all phenomena as being without inherent existence. 'The antidote itself is also liberated in its own place.' This teaches that even this mind, which engages in the activity of applying antidotes by practicing emptiness with body and mind, is not established. All knowable things are included in the duality of object and mind. When the general mind is established as being without inherent existence, as examined above, it is not truly established from the beginning. Think in this way. In that instant, let the mind itself be free from conceptualization, relax in a state where it does not grasp anything in the three times, let it be clear and lucid, and let it not be influenced by sinking or excitement. This is what is taught by 'The essence of the path is to remain in the state of the alaya consciousness.' Do not grasp at the ordinary mind, but remain free from affirmation and negation. Abandon the seven collections of consciousness, as they are conceptual minds. The key is not to be tainted by conceptualizations of object and subject. Afterwards, whenever conceptualizations arise, look at awareness with awareness, and release and rest in the state of dharmata. This is the actual practice of clear light, so it should be done intensely and briefly, dividing one meditation session into many sessions. The length of the session should include the preliminary and concluding rituals and be well-defined, which is the best. At the end, release the focus and cultivate great compassion for those who have not realized this, thinking, 'May they realize the undeluded truth,' and then dedicate the merit for the benefit of others. Afterwards, gently unfold the lotus posture and perform the seven-branch offering in the shrine. How to train in the post-meditation period? 'In between sessions, act like an illusory person.' This teaches that the experience of equipoise should not be abandoned in the post-meditation period, but should be continued. Although various appearances of oneself and others, the environment and its contents, appear, they are merely deceptive appearances and do not actually exist. Think that they are no different from illusory horses and elephants, and abandon all clinging to reality. Even oneself appears as the nature of the five aggregates, but it is merely an appearance of the collection of interdependent factors, and there is no permanently established, singular self of a person. Think of yourself as an illusory person going and coming and enjoying objects. Do not be thoughtless, but maintain mindfulness. Whenever anything becomes an object of the senses, immediately cut it off and think, 'This is also like an illusion, like a dream,' and train by relying on terminology. By looking at it in this way, the experience of equipoise and the thought of it being like a dream will not be separated in the post-meditation period, and all virtuous activities in between sessions will be incorporated into the path. Thus, all activities such as walking, standing, sitting, and lying down. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
