The power of blessing: directly refutes the ego-grasping. From beginningless time, samsara is endless. How does one wander in the three lower realms? It is generated by cherishing oneself and desiring one's own happiness. In this life, there are also many undesirable things, such as not knowing how to get along with family members, not upholding vows and commitments, and not wanting to cultivate the Dharma from leisure and endowment to selflessness. All of these are taken up by cherishing oneself and desiring one's own happiness, so all faults rely on this. Now, one should not do anything for it even for a moment, but should regard it as something to be completely destroyed and treat it as an enemy. The power of aspiration: At the end of all virtuous deeds, from now until enlightenment, may one never be separated from the two aspects of Bodhicitta (conventional and ultimate) in all lifetimes, and may one be purified. May one be able to take all good and bad circumstances into the path of Dharma. Thus, one makes aspirations. Offerings are made to the Lama and the Three Jewels, and torma (ritual cakes) are offered to the Dharma protectors and spirits, praying that in all lifetimes, one may never be separated from the two aspects of Bodhicitta. Pray that one may meet the holy Lama who teaches this Dharma. It is said that everything is condensed into a single 'Hūṃ' (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:seed syllable). The essential instruction for the transference of consciousness in the Great Vehicle is the five powers, and one should cherish one's conduct. When a person who has spent their whole life training their mind is afflicted by a terminal illness and knows that they are going to die, they must practice the Dharma of transference of consciousness at the time of death, and transfer their consciousness in that state. Because at that time, they cannot practice other mantras, etc., they must rely on the five powers to transfer their consciousness. First, one should practice the power of the white seed, giving away one's possessions to the Lama and the Three Jewels, etc. One should not give to objects that generate attachment, and one should arrange things so that they do not become a cause of sin in the future. One should offer excellent offerings to the objects of worship, and one should not give valuable wealth to those who have been kind. Then, one should generate the mind of not being attached to the things of this life and not being afraid of the next life. Then comes the power of aspiration: In front of the Three Jewels, arrange excellent offerings, confess sins, and repeat the vows of refuge, etc. Then offer to the Three Jewels, offer to the Dharma protectors. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Offering the Torma (Tibetan: གཏོར་མ, a type of offering), I pray for blessings to remember and practice the two aspects of Bodhicitta (Tibetan: བྱང་ཆུབ་ཀྱི་སེམས, the aspiration for enlightenment for the benefit of all beings and wisdom) in the Bardo (Tibetan: བར་དོ, the intermediate state between death and rebirth) and future lives. I pray to meet the holy Lama (Tibetan: བླ་མ, spiritual teacher) who teaches this Dharma, and I pray to be guided on the path of happiness. Now I rely entirely on you! Thus, I pray intensely for guidance on the path. After that, may I practice the two aspects of Bodhicitta in the Bardo, may I practice the two aspects of Bodhicitta in all my lives, and may I meet the holy Lama who teaches this Dharma. Thus, I pray again and again. Next is the power of repulsion: From beginningless time, what has caused me to enter into suffering is this clinging to 'I' and 'mine'. This present suffering is also caused by this. As long as I do not separate from this, there will be no happiness. So, how should I destroy it? All of this is because of clinging to the body. Therefore, it is necessary not to take a body in the Bardo, and to let the mind dissolve into space. I must think again and again, and refute self-grasping. Next is the power of habituation: Previously, I have continuously cultivated the two aspects of Bodhicitta. I must remember and practice the two aspects of Bodhicitta in the Bardo, and I must remember this again and again. Next is the power of familiarity: It is essential to have continuously practiced Bodhicitta before. Next, at the time of death, lie down on the right side, support the cheek with the right hand, block the right nostril with the little finger, and breathe through the left nostril. This is the transference of conduct. Next, with loving-kindness as the guide, relying on exhaling and inhaling, practice the two aspects of Tonglen (Tibetan: གཏོང་ལེན, a breathing practice of taking in the suffering of others and giving away one's own happiness). Immediately after that, meditate on ultimate Bodhicitta (Tibetan: དོན་དམ་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཀྱི་སེམས, the wisdom that realizes emptiness): All phenomena of Samsara and Nirvana are the root of the mind's delusion, and the nature of the mind has never moved from the essence of Dharmakaya (Tibetan: ཆོས་སྐུ, the body of the Dharma, the ultimate nature of the Buddha). Think in this way, that even death itself is unreal and untrue. Combine these two and practice them, and die in the midst of practice. If that seems impossible, then take the unaltered nature of mind, the meaning of the original Dharmakaya, as the guide, and in this nature where Samsara and Nirvana cannot be established as something to be accepted or rejected, relax the body and mind, and rest in the unchanging state of the nature of mind. After that, even if some consciousness is lost and death cannot be fully controlled, die with the instructions for the time of death. There are many instructions for the time of death, and there is nothing more wonderful than this. These are the stages of the path. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
