Purify the practice through the songs of the four goddesses, who are the essence of purifying the four elements. Among these, in the womb, purify those that are like jelly, like flames, like mirrors, like spheres, and the formation of the five stages of transformation, which are transformed into the seed of Bindu (Thigle, drop). Then, when the womb is complete and finally born, purify by transforming the fruit into Vajradhara (Holder of the Vajra). Furthermore, it should be mastered through the four paths, etc. The fifth is to clarify it. 3-444 The way of speaking from the Tantras, the meaning of what is spoken, and the introduction of the basis of purification and the method of purification. First, in the Root Tantra, it says: 'Eight faces and four feet, adorned with sixteen arms.' Therefore, the root face is black, the right one is like a Kunda flower (white jasmine), the left one is red and very terrifying, the face on the crown of the head is brick-red, the eyes are twenty-four large, and the remaining faces are like bees.' Until 'Elephant, horse, donkey, cow, camel, human, Sharabha (a mythical beast), cat.' From 'Earth, water, wind, fire, moon, sun, the terminator and the god of wealth.' and the teachings of 'elegant and brave people,' etc. Second, clarifying the body color, clarifying the nine sentiments, clarifying the deities of the father and mother. First, when emptiness and appearance are inseparable, or when the Heruka (blood drinker) of inseparable great compassion of skillful means and non-objective wisdom is transformed into the form of Vajradhara, it appears as a blue body, eight faces, and sixteen arms. This is because it has special features that symbolize all the basis of purification, the method of purification, and the result of purification. The method of clarification is as usual: Because the Dharma nature does not change, the body color is blue. 3-445 Because of purifying the eight liberations, there are eight faces. In the notes of Vajrahrdayalankara (Ornament of the Vajra Heart) it says: 'For the deities of the retinue of the Ishvara (Lord), there are eight faces of earth, water, fire, wind, space, sun, moon, Rahu (the Asura who devours the sun and moon), which is to destroy their arrogance and symbolize the abandonment of the eight worldly dharmas.' Therefore, it is called eight faces. The root face is blue, facing forward, with three faces on the right and left arranged like wings. On top of the root face, above the neck, there is a face facing forward. This indicates the purification of inherent and adventitious defilements, so the right face is white, and because of generating compassion for sentient beings, the first face on the left is red. Because it is unchanging, the remaining four faces on the right and left are black. Because of the union of skillful means and wisdom, the top face is smoky. Because it can see the three realms and know the three times, each face has three eyes, and the central eye looks upward to the left. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like the earth. By subduing the four maras (demons), the four fangs of the face are slightly bared. Having perfected all the qualities of the Buddha, the hair is yellow and curls upwards. At the center of the crown of the principal face, in front of the crest, various activities benefit sentient beings, therefore it is adorned with various vajras (thunderbolts). Sixteen hands: As stated in the *Vajrasekhara Sutra*: 'The four-faced one has four arms, the four-armed one has four legs.' Correspondingly, there are sixteen scapulae connected to the throat, sixteen arms connected to them, and sixteen hands connected to them, stacked in front and back. These hands represent the complete purification of the sixteen emptinesses. The sixteen skulls in the hands symbolize the sixteen wisdoms that realize emptiness in conjunction with wisdom, representing the union of subject and object. Alternatively, the sixteen wisdoms that realize emptiness cut off the heads of grasping at reality, hence there are sixteen skulls. When combined with skillful means, they symbolize the sixteen compassions, thus emptiness and compassion are united. Furthermore, the skulls are the guardians of bliss, the essence of the sixteen joys, thus representing the union of bliss and emptiness. Among them, the eight creatures residing in the eight skulls on the right side, as the text says: 'The lungs and breath, as well as phlegm, dry stomach, leprosy and nasal disease, liver and spleen diseases, should be known in order as elephant, etc.' symbolize the complete purification of the eight diseases. The mouths of the creatures face inward, symbolizing the absorption of the diseases of sentient beings into oneself. Holding the creatures inside the skulls symbolizes transforming these diseases into great bliss. In the past, rays of light emanated from the implements in the Blessed One's right hand, collecting and pacifying all the diseases of sentient beings. Later yogis should also practice in this way. By practicing in this way, the eighty-four thousand afflictions will disappear. When afflictions disappear, the results of eighty-four thousand diseases will also disappear. When diseases disappear, hunger and thirst disappear. When hunger and thirst disappear, death disappears. When death disappears, suffering and the lower realms disappear. The eight deities residing in the eight skulls on the left side symbolize the eight freedoms of wish-fulfilling and eight qualities. In the past, the implements in the Blessed One's left hand bestowed all the perfections of the mundane and supramundane. Later practitioners should also meditate in this way. The faces of the deities face outward, symbolizing the bestowal of the eight freedoms upon sentient beings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
