This is the intention of growth. In short, the objects of refuge are the body of the Guru and the non-dual Vajrakumara parents, the Sangha, the speech is the sacred Dharma, and the mind is the essence of all Buddhas. Think in this way and take refuge. These are the accumulation of merit from the two ways of accumulating preliminary merit, through the door of taking refuge. Then, how complete is the accumulation of merit? The sutra says: 'If the merit of refuge had a form, the sky and space would be too small to contain it.' Meditate on the meanings explained above in this way, from 'I and all beings' up to 'I take refuge in the noble Sangha,' recite at least twenty-one times with one-pointedness. Then, join your palms at your heart and recite the seven-branch offering of the Vajra Guru, etc. The visualization of these is: The Vajra Gurus are endowed with the glory of all Buddhas. To all those who have passed, are present, and will come in the future, I prostrate with great respect in body, speech, and mind. 1. The Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are the supreme fields of reliance. To these, I take refuge in the manner of being non-dual with the Guru. 2. I offer to you the offerings that I actually possess and those that I mentally create, which are without inherent existence. Please accept them. 3a. Please accept, I confess all the misdeeds that obstruct the flow of the nectar of accomplishment. 4. For all the white and virtuous deeds done and to be done in the ten directions and three times, these phenomena, though appearing, are without inherent existence, the three wheels are pure, and I practice without attachment. I rejoice in them. 5. Utterly pure, without cessation, without permanence, without coming, without going, free from all defilements, is perfect Bodhi. 6. I generate the mind to quickly attain it. 7. To please the Sugatas, Bodhisattvas, and their retinues, to accomplish the profound self-benefit, and to accomplish the vast benefit of others, I offer this body. 3b. I gather together all the virtuous deeds accumulated in the beginning, middle, and end of my lifetimes, and dedicate them all to the cause of attaining great Bodhi.' When explaining in this way, understand and meditate on each two lines of scripture corresponding to one 'Om'. After that, pray that the refuge objects joyfully dissolve from the outside to the inside into me and all sentient beings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dissolving into light and rays, merging into myself and all sentient beings, may all suffering and its causes be instantly eradicated, and may all beings attain Buddhahood. Then, practice the four immeasurables: Recite the single verse 'May all sentient beings have happiness,' etc. The object of focus is all sentient beings, equal to the sky, may they always have temporary and ultimate happiness and the cause of happiness—virtuous actions, cultivating this from the depths of your heart is immeasurable loving-kindness. May they be separated from suffering and the cause of suffering—non-virtuous actions, not just saying it, but cultivating this from the depths of your heart is immeasurable compassion. If these parents and sentient beings could be separated from suffering and the cause of suffering, and possess happiness and the cause of happiness, my heart would be satisfied, and joy would arise, cultivating this is immeasurable joy. May all sentient beings not be attached to their own side, nor hate the other side, in short, may they realize the equality of all dharmas, cultivating this is immeasurable equanimity, these are the four immeasurables. Thus, cultivating the meaning of the four immeasurables is aspiration Bodhicitta (smön pa sems bskyed). Reciting meaningful scriptures is engaging Bodhicitta ('jug pa sems bskyed). So, what is immeasurable? Lord Maitreya said: 'The realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, so is the desire to benefit them.' Thus, sentient beings are immeasurable, therefore, cultivating compassion and loving-kindness that pervade them is immeasurable. Thus, cultivating immeasurable loving-kindness, etc., on an immeasurable object, therefore, the merit accumulated by this is also immeasurable. As it is also said in the sutra: 'In countless billions of lands, with immeasurable various offerings, offering daily to the excellent ones, cannot match a fraction of loving-kindness.' The above is the accumulation of the accumulation of merit. Secondly, to accumulate the accumulation of wisdom, one must cultivate non-conceptual samadhi—emptiness. As it is also said: 'Conceptual thought is great ignorance, it is the cause of falling into the ocean of samsara. Abiding in non-conceptual samadhi, one becomes as pure and stainless as the sky.' Thus, there are two types: cultivating emptiness after dismantling and cultivating forcibly. The former, even if one only understands a little of my doctrine, I will not write it here due to the length. The latter, reciting Om Maha Shunyata Jnana Vajra Svaha, and at the same time visualizing the outer container world and the inner sentient beings, that is, all phenomena encompassed by the container and its contents, are empty by nature, like the sky. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
