There are four types. The first is the classification of armor-like diligence, which includes definition, scope, and the six perfections as an adjunct. The definition is: any practice that possesses four special accomplishments, whose main activity is armor-like diligence. The four special accomplishments of practice refer to the basis of practice, the object, the purpose, and the nature of the practice itself. There are six categories: from the armor-like diligence of generosity to the armor-like diligence of wisdom. The definition of the first is: any practice that possesses four special accomplishments, which, through combining with the intention of knowing everything, cultivates the perfection of generosity into a perfection that possesses the six perfections, whose main activity is armor-like diligence. The remaining perfections are also explained in this way. The scope is: from the accumulation path of the Mahayana to the ten Bhumis of Bodhisattvas. The adjunct six perfections include two aspects: definition and classification. The definition is: the wisdom that has already transcended or is in the process of transcending both samsara and nirvana is the definition of perfection. There are six categories: the perfection of generosity, etc. The first includes two aspects: definition and classification. The definition is: the mind of giving that possesses four qualities. The four qualities are: being free from stinginess, which is the opposite of giving; possessing the wisdom that does not discriminate phenomena; completely fulfilling all the desires of others; and whose activity is to ripen sentient beings according to their respective capacities in the three vehicles. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: 'The opposite of giving diminishes, possessing non-discriminating wisdom, completely fulfilling all desires, ripening sentient beings in three ways.' Therefore, there are three categories: material giving, Dharma giving, and fearlessness giving. The perfection of discipline includes two aspects: definition and classification. The definition is: the mind that possesses four qualities, which is the antidote to moral transgression. There are three categories: the discipline of abstaining from negative actions, the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. The mind that does not disturb one's own mind and possesses four qualities is the definition of the perfection of patience. There are three categories: patience with suffering and retaliation, patience with gaining certainty about the meaning of the Dharma, and patience with not caring about harm. The mind that is full of joy in virtue and possesses four qualities is the definition of the perfection of diligence. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In terms of classification, there are three types of diligence: armor-like diligence, application diligence, and irreversible diligence. The single-pointed concentration with four qualities is the characteristic of Dhyana Paramita (Perfection of Meditation). In terms of classification, there are three types of Dhyana: Dhyana with both investigation and analysis, Dhyana with only analysis but no investigation, and Dhyana with neither investigation nor analysis. The wisdom that thoroughly distinguishes dharmas and possesses four qualities is the characteristic of Prajna Paramita (Perfection of Wisdom). In terms of classification, there are three types of wisdom: wisdom arising from hearing, wisdom arising from thinking, and wisdom arising from meditation. Secondly, regarding the accomplishment of entering the path, there are three aspects: characteristics, classifications, and boundaries. The characteristic is: any activity that possesses four special accomplishments, with the primary focus on diligence in entering the Mahayana (Great Vehicle). In terms of classification, there are nine types based on the classification of nine objects. The nine objects are: two types of samadhi (meditative concentration), dhyana and formless dhyana; the six paramitas (perfections) such as generosity; the paths such as the path of seeing; the four immeasurables such as loving-kindness; being endowed with non-objectification; being completely pure in the three spheres; acting for a purpose; the six abhijna (superknowledges); and the state of all-knowingness, making nine. The boundary is: it exists from the heat stage of the Mahayana's path of joining to the tenth bhumi (level). Thirdly, regarding the accumulation of merit, there are four aspects: characteristics, classifications, boundaries, and a detailed explanation of what is difficult to understand. The characteristic is: any activity that possesses four special accomplishments, which is the accumulation of causes that directly grasp the temporary and ultimate great enlightenment as its own result. In terms of classification, there are seventeen types based on the classification of the seventeen accumulations of merit. The boundary is: it exists from the forbearance stage of the Mahayana's path of joining to the tenth bhumi. The detailed explanation of what is difficult to understand includes: an explanation of shamatha (calm abiding) and vipashyana (insight), an explanation of dharani (mnemonic devices), an explanation of the accumulation of wisdom, an explanation of the accumulation of bhumis (levels), and an explanation of the accumulation of antidotes, making five. Firstly, the characteristic of shamatha is: any single-pointed concentration on an object, distinguished by the bliss of physical and mental pliancy. Regarding vipashyana, there are two aspects: characteristics and classifications. The characteristic is: the wisdom and its associated factors that directly realize selflessness, arising from the practice of shamatha as its own cause. In terms of classification, there are two types: vipashyana that realizes selflessness and unwavering vipashyana. Secondly, regarding dharani, there are two aspects: characteristics and classifications. The characteristic is: the mindfulness and wisdom, along with their associated factors, that rely on self-conditioned samadhi and hold without forgetting the dharma understood by one's own mind. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
