愚昧(མ་རིག་པ།,ma rig pa),疑惑(ཐེ་ཚོམ་,the tshom),即五种不正见(ལྟ་མིན་ལྔ,lta min lnga):有身见(འཇིག་ཚོགས་ལ་ལྟ་བ,'jig tshogs la lta ba),边见(མཐར་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ,mthar 'dzin pa'i lta ba),邪见(ལོག་པར་ལྟ་བ,log par lta ba),见取见(ལྟ་བ་མཆོག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ,lta ba mchog tu 'dzin pa'i lta ba),戒禁取见(ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་དང་བརྟུལ་ཞུགས་མཆོག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ,tshul khrims dang brtul zhugs mchog tu 'dzin pa'i lta ba),这五见加上五种不正见,共十种。

Ignorance (མ་རིག་པ།, ma rig pa), doubt (ཐེ་ཚོམ་, the tshom), namely the five wrong views (ལྟ་མིན་ལྔ, lta min lnga): view of the aggregates (འཇིག་ཚོགས་ལ་ལྟ་བ, 'jig tshogs la lta ba), extreme view (མཐར་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ, mthar 'dzin pa'i lta ba), wrong view (ལོག་པར་ལྟ་བ, log par lta ba), view of holding views as supreme (ལྟ་བ་མཆོག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ, lta ba mchog tu 'dzin pa'i lta ba), view of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme (ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་དང་བརྟུལ་ཞུགས་མཆོག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ, tshul khrims dang brtul zhugs mchog tu 'dzin pa'i lta ba). These five views plus the five wrong views, totaling ten. Similarly, what is abandoned by seeing the origin (ཀུན་འབྱུང་མཐོང་སྤང་, kun 'byung mthong spang) has ten, what is abandoned by seeing cessation (འགོག་པ་མཐོང་སྤོང་, 'gog pa mthong spong) has ten, what is abandoned by seeing the path (ལམ་མཐོང་སྤང་, lam mthong spang) has ten, totaling forty. Because the two upper realms do not have anger (ཁོང་ཁྲོ་, khong khro), there are five views and four wrong views. In the form realm (གཟུགས་ཁམས, gzugs khams) there are thirty-six (དགུ་བཞི་སུམ་ཅུ་རྩ་དྲུག, dgu bzhi sum cu rtsa drug), and in the formless realm (གཟུགས་མེད་ཁམས, gzugs med khams) there are also thirty-six. If divided from the perspective of realms (ཁམས, khams), the afflictions (ཉོན་མོངས, nyon mongs) abandoned by seeing are one hundred and twelve. If divided from the perspective of grounds (ས, sa), the desire realm (འདོད་པའི་ས, 'dod pa'i sa) has forty. The first dhyana (བསམ་གཏན་དང་པོ, bsam gtan dang po), the second dhyana (གཉིས་པ, gnyis pa), the third dhyana (གསུམ་པ, gsum pa), the fourth dhyana (བཞི་པ, bzhi pa), the sphere of infinite space (ནམ་མཁའ་མཐའ་ཡས་སྐྱེ་མཆེད, nam mkha' mtha' yas skye mched), the sphere of infinite consciousness (རྣམ་ཤེས་མཐའ་ཡས, rnam shes mtha' yas), the sphere of nothingness (ཅི་ཡང་མེད་པ, ci yang med pa), the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception (འདུ་ཤེས་མེད་འདུ་ཤེས་མེད་མིན་སྐྱེ་མཆེད, 'du shes med 'du shes med min skye mched). Each of these eight grounds has thirty-six, so it also becomes three hundred and twenty-eight. According to the view of the *Abhidharmakośa* (མཛོད, mdzod), what is abandoned by seeing the suffering of the desire realm (སྡུག་བསྔལ་མཐོང་སྤང་, sdug bsngal mthong spang) is still the five views and five wrong views, totaling ten. What is abandoned by seeing the origin and what is abandoned by seeing cessation each have five wrong views, and the latter three views excluding the view of the aggregates and the extreme view, because there is no wrong adherence, so each has seven. What is abandoned by seeing the path has the wrong adherence of moral discipline and asceticism, so there are eight. The upper realms do not have anger, so what is abandoned by seeing suffering has nine, the origin and cessation each have six, and what is abandoned by seeing the path has seven. As the *Abhidharmakośa* says: 'Those ten and seven, seven eight, except three two views, desire suffering etc., seeing abandons successively, four should be abandoned by meditation, except anger, that self, form realm, formless realm, same.' Second, regarding the classification of the antidote (གཉེན་པོ, gnyen po) that abandons (སྤོང་བྱེད, spong byed)—the path of seeing (མཐོང་ལམ, mthong lam), there are four aspects: nature (མཚན་ཉིད, mtshan nyid), division (དབྱེ་བ, dbye ba), qualities (ཡོན་ཏན, yon tan), and definition (ངེས་ཚིག, nges tshig). First is the nature: it refers to the direct realization (མངོན་རྟོགས, mngon rtogs) of the truth (བདེན་པ, bden pa) of the *Śrāvaka* (ཉན་ཐོས, nyan thos) who directly sees the selflessness of persons (གང་ཟག་གི་བདག་མེད, gang zag gi bdag med). Second, from the perspective of the entity, there are sixteen moments (སྐད་ཅིག་མ, skad cig ma) of knowledge and forbearance (ཤེས་བཟོད, shes bzod): suffering dharma forbearance (སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཆོས་བཟོད, sdug bsngal chos bzod), suffering dharma knowledge (ཆོས་ཤེས, chos shes) two; suffering subsequent forbearance (སྡུག་བསྔལ་རྗེས་བཟོད, sdug bsngal rjes bzod), suffering subsequent knowledge (རྗེས་ཤེས, rjes shes) two. Similarly, the origin has four, cessation has four, and the path has four. The definitions of the natures are in order: according to the view of the *Abhidharmakośa*, the direct realization of the truth of the *Śrāvaka* that directly abandons what is abandoned by seeing the suffering of the desire realm is the nature of the suffering dharma forbearance of the *Śrāvaka*. Similarly, the word *Śrāvaka* can be universally applied. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
