Transcending dependence, for all dharmas, there is no eye-dust of dharmas, obtaining purity free from defilements, and so on, obtaining immeasurable merits. Fourth, explaining the meaning of the words: Because புதிதாக (Tibetan: གསར་དུ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: nūtana, Sanskrit Romanization: nutana, Chinese literal meaning: new) seeing ранее (Tibetan: སྔར་, Sanskrit Devanagari: pūrva, Sanskrit Romanization: purva, Chinese literal meaning: before) the non-self of the person that was not seen before, it is called the Path of Seeing. Third, the classification of the fruits of abandonment, divided into nature and differences. First, the nature is: the liberation from the defilements of the division of the uninterrupted path of the Hearer's Path of Seeing, is the nature of the fruit of the Hearer's Path of Seeing's ascetic practice. Second, there are four differences. As stated in the *Abhidharmakośa*: the fruit of actually liberating from what is abandoned by the sight of suffering in the desire realm; the fruit of actually liberating from what is abandoned by the sight of suffering in the upper realms; similarly, from what is abandoned by the sight of the origin in the desire realm, what is abandoned by the sight of the origin in the upper realms, what is abandoned by the sight of the cessation in the desire realm, what is abandoned by the sight of the cessation in the upper realms, what is abandoned by the sight of the path in the desire realm, what is abandoned by the sight of the path in the upper realms, there are eight fruits in total. Each of these also has two: the conditioned liberation path and the unconditioned cessation. In the *Compendium of Topics*, it is said: the fruits of actually liberating from the four: what is abandoned by the sight of suffering, what is abandoned by the sight of the origin, what is abandoned by the sight of the cessation, and what is abandoned by the sight of the path, there are four fruits, and each of these also has two: conditioned and unconditioned. In the *Ornament for Clear Realization*, it is said that from the perspective of negation, there are two: conditioned and unconditioned; from the perspective of reality, there are fifteen moments of the Path of Seeing; from the perspective of what is to be abandoned, there are four fundamental differences, and each of these also has ten realms and nine realms. From the perspective of abandonment, know that however much there was from the perspective of what was to be abandoned before, there is also that much fruit. Fourth, the classification of the individuals who abide in this: If we distinguish the individuals who possess the Hearer's Path of Seeing, from the perspective of the entity, there are sixteen types of individuals who abide in the sixteen moments; from the perspective of faculties, there are two each of the dull-faculty follower of faith and the sharp-faculty follower of dharma who abide in the fifteen moments. For the sixteenth moment, the dull-faculty is called 'faith-liberation', and the sharp-faculty is called 'attainment of seeing'. Regarding this, the *Pramāṇavārttika* says: 'Because of not seeing, seeing, the Path of Seeing, the followers of faith and dharma.' And 'The sixteenth abides in that fruit position, at that time the faculties are different, dull and sharp, by faith, liberation, and by seeing, attainment.' Therefore. Among which Paths of Seeing of the three vehicles, those with dull faculties, as stated in the *Abhidharmakośa*, generate eight uninterrupted paths. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some say that according to the Abhidharmasamuccaya, those with medium faculties generate four uninterrupted paths when attaining the path of seeing, while according to the Abhisamayalankara, those with sharp faculties generate only one uninterrupted path. This statement is unexamined. If the one who attains the path of seeing is the one described in the Abhidharmakosha, then it is not necessarily the case that they are dull-witted, because the text itself clearly explains this. Furthermore, what is stated in the Abhidharmasamuccaya does not necessarily refer to those with medium faculties, and what is stated in the Abhisamayalankara does not necessarily refer to those with sharp faculties. This is because the scripture says, 'Dull and sharp faculties are obtained through faith and seeing,' because their physical and mental states are good. Therefore, this is a difference in tenets, not a difference in faculties. Distinguishing from the perspective of the basis, there are two: those who have entered and those who abide in the fruit. The first, those who have entered, are divided into three: those who have entered to eliminate desire (Skt. raga), those who have previously gone to the stream-enterer (Skt. srotapanna), therefore those who have entered the once-returner (Skt. sakrdagamin), and therefore those who have entered the non-returner (Skt. anagamin). Each of these has fifteen paths of seeing, from abiding in the acceptance of suffering-dharma to abiding in the subsequent acceptance of the path. The second, those who abide in the fruit, also have three: the fruit of the stream-enterer, the fruit of the once-returner who has previously gone to eliminate desire, and therefore the fruit of the non-returner. This is definitely a person who abides in the sixteenth subsequent knowledge of the path. So, the fruit of the stream-enterer is considered the fruit of the excellent ascetic practice by abandoning the three fetters abandoned by the path of seeing (self-view, attachment to rites and rituals, and doubt). If so, then according to the Madhyamaka school, the suffering-dharma-knowledge of the path of seeing of the Hearers (Skt. Sravaka) becomes the fruit of the stream-enterer, because it is the fruit of the excellent ascetic practice by abandoning the three fetters abandoned by the path of seeing. This is because his suffering-dharma-acceptance is the uninterrupted path that directly abandons the three fetters abandoned by the path of seeing. If the path of seeing is an uninterrupted path, then it is necessarily the suffering-dharma-acceptance. If you accept the root, then the suffering-dharma-knowledge of the path of seeing of the Hearers becomes the abiding fruit of the stream-enterer. Because his suffering-dharma-knowledge is the fruit of the stream-enterer. If you accept this, it contradicts the explanation in the commentary that the stream-enterer is described as entering the stream. But there is no fault, because even though the suffering-dharma-knowledge of the path of seeing of the Hearers is excellent by abandoning the three fetters abandoned by the path of seeing according to the Madhyamaka school, it does not become the fruit of the stream-enterer, because even when comparing with the two lower schools, or when conforming to the views of other schools, the ascetic fruit of the Hearers is not necessarily any of the four fruits, because the suffering-dharma-knowledge is the ascetic fruit. The Abhidharmakosha says: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
