If someone says, 'Because I and the Lion's Arising (Senge Namgying) have the same basis.' Then, the Samadhi Lion's Arising of the first ground, in terms of its dharma characteristic, should be the Lion's Arising, because (the Samadhi) and the Lion's Arising have the same basis. What do you say to this? Therefore, nowadays, some people, without understanding the order of the arising of the grounds and paths, acknowledge that the application Lion's Arising of the second ground is the wisdom of the first ground, and then say that the Samadhi of Breakthrough arises in the second ground. Others say that in the second ground, first is the path of application, then the path of immediate consequence, then the path of liberation, then the Lion's Arising, Breakthrough, and then the subsequent wisdom arises. Still others are uncertain, saying that some individuals on the second ground first give rise to subsequent attainment, and some first give rise to meditative equipoise, and so on. Now, these Paramita practitioners, although speaking from their own position with the arrogance of great scholars, have no reliable tenet and speak of various uncertainties. I will explain through the meaning of the scriptures and commentaries and the oral instructions of the Lamas, and you will understand. Second, regarding subsequent attainment, from the perspective of essence, there are three as before; from the perspective of complete training, there are eight; from the perspective of the way of showing, there is the gate of continuous complete training, and the three of mind measurement, thought, and investigation, as well as the five of faith, aspiration, dedication, and subsequent rejoicing. Third, the way of arising is that the subsequent attainment arises first on the second ground, because the complete training of the first ground that has just been completed is the wisdom of the second ground. Why? Because all the complete training of the first ground is subsequent attainment. The first is established, as the Great Commentary says: 'As long as one has not learned to completely train that ground, it is still that ground, and once it is completed, it is another ground.' The Intermediate Stages of Kashi's Meditation also say the same. The meaning of complete training is also that one strives to train the faults of one's own ground and to obtain the qualities of the higher ground. The second reason is readily available, so there is no need to prove it. Therefore, for the second ground, subsequent attainment arises first. Then there is the application Lion's Arising, then Breakthrough, then the path of immediate consequence, then the path of liberation, then the special path, and then there is also the practice of complete training. Or first there is subsequent attainment, then the path of immediate consequence, the path of liberation, the special path, and then the application Lion's Arising and reality. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It should be known that there are cessation, exhaustion, subjugation, and so on, and then there is also complete purification. It should be understood that from the second bhumi to the ninth, the way these eight bhumis arise is just like this. The end of the second bhumi is also held by the subsequent attainment, because all the purifications of the second bhumi are subsequent attainment. Fourth, explaining the name: As it says, 'Because it is free from the defilement of striving for immoral conduct, it is called the Immaculate Bhumi.' The third bhumi also has four points as before. First, definition: mainly through enjoying the perfection of patience, it is the realization that serves as the basis for the qualities of a Bodhisattva on the path of meditation. Second, classification: except for the number of purifications, it is the same as before. Third, the way it arises is also the same as before. Fourth, explaining the name: As it says, 'Because it creates the great light of the Dharma, it is called the Illuminating Bhumi.' The fourth bhumi also has four points. First, definition: mainly through enjoying the perfection of diligence, etc., as mentioned before. Second, classification, and third, the way it arises are also the same as before. Fourth, explaining the name: As it says, 'Like the light that thoroughly burns the factors of enlightenment, that bhumi is radiant with the light that burns the two.' The fifth bhumi also has four points. First, definition: mainly through enjoying the perfection of meditation, etc. Second and third are also the same as before. Fourth, explaining the name: As it says, 'Because it completely ripens sentient beings and protects one's own mind, it is difficult for the wise to tame, therefore it is called the Difficult to Tame Bhumi.' The sixth bhumi also has four points. Mainly through enjoying the perfection of wisdom, etc. Second and third are the same. Fourth, explaining the name: As it says, 'Relying on the perfection of wisdom, the two become manifest here, therefore it is called the Manifest Bhumi.' The seventh bhumi also has four points. First, definition: mainly through enjoying the perfection of skillful means, etc. Second and third are also the same. Fourth: As it says, 'Because it is connected to the path of travel, it is considered the Far-Reaching Bhumi.' The eighth bhumi also has four points. First, definition: mainly through enjoying the perfection of aspiration, etc. Second and third are also the same. Fourth: As it says, 'Because it is not moved by the two kinds of perception, it is called the Immovable Bhumi.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
