method. The power of aspiration and wisdom, these are considered the ten perfections. Difference and non-difference should be understood sequentially on the ten grounds. Fourth, on the ten grounds, there is no difference in seeing the nature of self-purified Dharmata (法性,Dharmatā,法性,nature of reality), because there is no partial understanding of Dharmata, so there are no two aspects of seeing and not seeing. However, there is a difference in seeing the nature of freedom from adventitious stains, because each ground has a newly seen nature of freedom from adventitious stains. As it says in the sutra: 'Like seeing the sun in the clouds, you, the wise one, in this direction. Even the noble ones with pure eyes of wisdom have not seen everything. Blessed One, those infinite Dharmakayas (法身,Dharmakāya,法身,body of truth) of yours that are completely pacified, those that pervade the endless space of knowable objects, see everything.' Fifth, as it says in the Madhyāntavibhāga (中边分别论,Madhyāntavibhāga,中边分别论,Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes): 'The supreme meaning of universally benefiting beings, the supreme nature of the meaning of the common cause, the meaning of non-grasping, and the meaning of non-difference in the streams.' Sixth, on the first ground, one is born as the king of Jambudvipa (赡部洲,Jambudvīpa,赡部洲,Jambudvipa); on the second ground, as the king of the four continents; on the third ground, as Indra (帝释天,Indra,帝释天,Indra); on the fourth ground, as the king of Yama (夜摩天王,Yāma,夜摩天王,Yama); on the fifth ground, as the king of Tushita (兜率天王,Tuṣita,兜率天王,Tushita); on the sixth ground, as the king of Nirmanarati (化乐天王,Nirmāṇarati,化乐天王,Nirmanarati); on the seventh ground, as the king of Paranirmitavasavarti (他化自在天王,Paranirmitavaśavarti,他化自在天王,Paranirmitavasavarti); on the eighth ground, as Brahma (大梵天,Brahmā,大梵天,Brahma), the lord of a thousand; on the ninth ground, as Mahabrahma (大梵天,Mahābrahmā,大梵天,Mahabrahma), the lord of the three thousand great thousands; on the tenth ground, as the great powerful son of the gods, the king of Akanishta (色究竟天,Akaniṣṭha,色究竟天,Akanishta). This is what is said in the Dashabhumika Sutra (十地经,Daśabhūmika Sūtra,十地经,Ten Grounds Sutra) and the Ratnavali (宝鬘论,Ratnāvalī,宝鬘论,Precious Garland). Seventh, one, ten, two, eight, three, five, four, ten, five, ten, six, ten, two, seven, twenty, eight, eight, nine, twelve, totaling ninety-five. Regarding the differences in the time of accomplishment, For those with sharp faculties, one asamkhyeya-kalpa (无数劫,asaṃkhyeya-kalpa,阿僧祇劫,incalculable eon) is needed on the stage of adhimukti-carya (胜解行地,adhimukti-carya,胜解行地,stage of aspirational conduct), one asamkhyeya-kalpa on the seven pure grounds, and one asamkhyeya-kalpa on the three pure grounds, totaling three asamkhyeya-kalpas. As it says in the Abhidharmakosha (俱舍论,Abhidharmakośa,俱舍论,Treasury of Knowledge): 'He becomes a Buddha in three asamkhyeya-kalpas.' As it says in the Uttaratantra (宝性论,Uttaratantra,宝性论,Sublime Continuum): 'In three asamkhyeya-kalpas, he reaches the end.' As it says in the Trisamvara (三戒论,Triśamvara,三戒论,Three Vows): 'Even if it is how quick, one needs the asceticism of three asamkhyeya-kalpas.' For those with medium faculties, six asamkhyeya-kalpas are needed on the stage of adhimukti-carya, and three asamkhyeya-kalpas on each of the ten grounds, totaling thirty-six. This is what Vasubandhu (世亲,Vasubandhu,世亲,Vasubandhu) said in the commentary on the Sutra-alamkara (经庄严论,Sūtrālaṃkāra,经庄严论,Ornament of the Sutras) and the teacher in the Great Commentary. For those with dull faculties, countless kalpas are needed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It should be known that obtaining these merits requires countless eons. Second, explain the individual self-natures in detail. For each of the ten bhumis, it is necessary to understand four aspects: the nature, the divisions, the manner of arising, and the etymological explanation. First, the nature of the first bhumi is: primarily through the practice of generosity paramita, it is the realization that serves as the basis for the qualities of a Bodhisattva on the path of seeing. Second, the divisions: there are two types of wisdom, meditative wisdom and post-meditative wisdom. The first is further divided into: meditative wisdom that focuses single-pointedly on the nature of reality, and meditative wisdom that focuses on conventional reality. The first of these is further divided into three: the path of non-interruption, such as the forbearance of suffering-dharma; the path of liberation, such as dharma-knowledge; and the path of distinction, such as subsequent knowledge. The second has five: meditative lion's play, the samadhi of exhaustion, the samadhi of subjugation, the samadhi of ultimate abiding, and the samadhi of liberation. It should be known that there is no sudden transcendence samadhi on the first bhumi. Second, the divisions of post-meditation: from the perspective of essence, there are aspiration, dedication, and rejoicing; from the perspective of purification, there are ten; from the perspective of the way of teaching, there are purification, post-meditation, and two types of conceptualization of dependent origination. Third, the manner of arising: first, meditative wisdom arises, which is the forbearance of suffering-dharma, because it is the first moment of the first bhumi. The end is held by post-meditation, because immediately after the completion of the purification of the first bhumi, it is the wisdom of the second bhumi, and all the purifications of the first bhumi are also post-meditative wisdom. Fourth, the etymological explanation: The Garland of Jewels says: 'Nearness to enlightenment, and seeing the accomplishment of the welfare of sentient beings, gives rise to great joy, therefore it is called the 'Joyful One'.' The second bhumi also has four aspects. Primarily through the enjoyment of the paramita of ethics, the realization that serves as the basis for the qualities of a Bodhisattva on the path of cultivation is the nature of the second bhumi. Second, the divisions are the same as before, with two types. The first is also the same as before, with three types: the path of abandonment, the path of liberation, and the path of distinction. The second has six types: application lion's play, sudden transcendence, ultimate abiding, liberation, exhaustion, and the samadhi of subjugation. It should be known that meditative lion's play does not exist above the second bhumi. If someone asks: The application lion's play of the second bhumi should be the meditative lion's play, because it is meditative wisdom. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
