In that which is without grasping, delusion arises from grasping one's own nature as true. Therefore, all is the nature of conventional appearance. Thus it is said. Moreover, the Guru (上师) departed like a bird in flight, leaving nothing to do but contemplate. Jetsun (尊者) said: If one does not recognize the absence of grasping, like the path of a bird, will one not wander aimlessly like a dog chasing a flying bird? Having said this, he dissolved into the sky. Even running cannot catch up, even seeing cannot keep him. He vanished like a mirage. All phenomena are conventional truths. If one does not see the truth of cause and effect in these illusory phenomena, one will not see the ultimate truth. Thus it is said. Thereafter, thinking, 'Although it is uncertain whether the Guru will come again, where should I seek him?' As I was pondering, a voice resounded in the sky: In the unborn nature, mind itself is the nature of reality, the Dharmakaya (法身). If the snake-knot of doubt is not untied, the needle of duality will not accomplish anything. Thus it is said. Wherever he went, the Guru had departed, but his form appeared in the sky. Overjoyed, I prayed again. Jetsun Naropa (那若巴) said: If one does not see in the invisible, the rainbow-like body without attachment, how can one understand its meaning, like a blind person watching a show? Having said this, he departed. Thereafter, I went to the Dark Mountain. On a wondrous crystal rock, I saw the footprints of the Guru's departure. After taking a drink of water, on the hard, precious rock wall, I saw a white sandalwood Vajra (金刚杵). I saw a self-arisen red Padma (莲花) with trunk and branches. In the clear streams, I saw a self-arisen burning lotus. The blossoming Vajra and Padma are wondrous signs of his reappearance. The three wondrous marks refer to the footprints of these three. Thereafter, I climbed to the top of the mountain and found a square stone slab. I prayed beside it for seven days. Within those seven days, the Guru actually appeared, and I prostrated. I offered a Mandala (坛城) and prayed. I offered a Ganachakra (荟供), stirring Amrita (甘露) in a skull cup with many rib bones, and he gave me the leftovers to eat, which tasted supremely delicious. The Guru said: In the great vessel of great bliss, if one does not enjoy the equal taste of great bliss, one will not experience the enjoyment of Amrita. Thus it is said. Thereafter, I offered a golden Mandala to the Guru. Jetsun Naropa said: Appearance and existence are primordially pure, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When offering a precious mandala with attachment, wouldn't it fall into the trap of the eight worldly dharmas (referring to the eight worldly phenomena of gain, loss, destruction, reputation, praise, ridicule, suffering, and happiness)?' After saying this, he did not accept the offering. Although repeatedly requested to accept, the lama said, 'Konchok (དཀོན་མཆོག་, Sanskrit: ratna, the Three Jewels), please accept!' Then he threw it into the sky. I felt a little regret, and the lama said, 'If you want it, there can be more.' After saying this, he opened his palms, and the previous mandala appeared intact. Again, he sprinkled it on the lama's body, part of it fell into his hair, and part of it entered his head, all of which melted into nectar, and the lama drank it. The lama said, 'Everything is a golden land.' When he stood up, his feet stepped on the ground, and all the places he stepped on turned into gold. At that time, in front of Je Naropa (རྗེ་ན་རོ་པ་, Venerable Naropa), eight strange visions appeared, and he taught the essence of the teachings of Glorious Hevajra (དཔལ་དགྱེས་པ་རྡོ་རྗེ, Sanskrit: Śrī Hevajra), the red guidance (dmar khrid) of the five families, and the extensive and concise Secret Jewel (gsang ba rin po che), and also taught Jomo Lhenchig Kyema (jo mo lhan cig skyes ma). At that time, Je Naropa (རྗེ་ན་རོ་པ་) did not teach the Dharma, and Mi Tri Ba (mi tri ba) said, 'Please teach the Dharma.' It is said that he studied and copied scriptures from Mi Tri Ba Now all the tantras and pith instructions have come down from Je Naropa (རྗེ་ན་རོ་པ་) and Mi Tri Ba (mi tri ba). After all the scriptures were completed, he prayed again and held a tsokhor, and then went to find the lama. He met the lama in a dense forest, and his own mind appeared as the image of the lama, neither knowing where it came from nor where it was going, and this principle must be understood. Just like the Dharmata luminosity non-action (chos nyid 'od gsal bya bral), if you don't know that there is no coming and going, like a wild animal chasing a mirage, wouldn't you be running around in the wilderness for nothing?' Then, I prostrated, circumambulated, placed the lama's feet on my head, and asked for blessings. Je Naropa (རྗེ་ན་རོ་པ་) gave blessings: 'With the sun of self-liberation wisdom, in the monastery of Pulahari (pu la ha ri), with the name of Wisdom, dispel the darkness of ignorance of Bodhi (bho ta), and let the light of wisdom pervade.' Lama Tilopa (ཏེ་ལོ་བ, Sanskrit: Tilopa) had prophesied this, so the lama said, 'Go, because the lama is a Buddha.' On the way to Pulahari (pu la ha ri) for Marpa Lotsawa (མར་པ་ལོ་ཙྪ་བ་) and Je Naropa (རྗེ་ན་རོ་པ་), many worldly dakinis appeared, and the translator took many life-force essences of the dakinis, preparing to take them back to Tibet, creating obstacles.
